“ Beautiful location but SQUALID ROOM.

We booked 2 rooms at this hotel whilst visiting a nearby family celebration. We arrived late in the evening after phoning and had no opportunity really to change our minds, otherwise we would have left. We should have read the reviews...

Both rooms 12 & 13 were allocated in the "chalet" block and were very small and cramped. Our room (13) unlucky for some! also had a dangerously detached broken toilet seat, ripped off and missing towel rail, drying urine puddle (at least that's what it looked like) on the bathroom floor, sink and shower smelled of bleach but were covered in soap scum and dirt, and there were indeterminate stains (looked like blood) on the bathroom wall. The bedroom had ripped wallpaper, detached pipework trunking, headboard falling off one of the twin beds, 1 of the curtain valances and fittings in the wardrobe, and the carpet and less immediately visible areas of the room had clearly not been cleaned in a very long time! The bedlinen was clean but the blankets were extremely grubby looking. The smallest complaint was the provision of a bedside lamp with nowhere for it to plug in to?

This was without doubt the worst hotel room we have stayed in for many years.
When we compained about the room in the morning, the receptionist looked quite used to the comments and said the housekeeper was normally very good!

We should have read the Trip advisor reviews! Mostly appalling reviews apart from 1 that sounds like it was writen by the hotel owner! The room was a disgrace and the hotel ought to be embarassed at asking anyone to pay for it! Spoke to the lady in the neighbouring chalet and she was pretty unhappy about the state of her room as well.

The only reason I have awarded it a 1.0 rather than 0.0 is that the full English breakfast was surprisingly good (given the experience in the room).

Took photos of the appalling state of the room and when we finally looked at Trip Advisor, Someone had already uploaded photos of the same room looking just as bad from a month previously.

Despite the modest pricing, a complete rip off. We will never stay here again!
