“ If you are driving to York and don't fancy the idea of driving in the centre then this hotel is ideal. Just off the ring road near the racecourse it is well situated with a regular bus service to the city centre which runs until 11 at night. The rooms are very comfortable and well furnished as you would expect from a Holiday Inn. The price we paid was good value compared with similar hotels. The breakfast which was included in the price was excellent in quality. However I would suggest that if the waiters brought toast to the tables and let guests help themselves to hot drinks instead of the other way round then this would make the process a bit smoother. (Avoiding queues of bemused people trying to work out how the toaster works and coffee being poured at the start of breakfast going cold by the time you get round to drinking it!)

“ Top Tip: The Fox and Roman pub just across the road is good for a drink in the evening and not as expensive as the hotel bar. They also do reasonably priced meals if you aren't going into the city centre.

“ Hotel was good and the staff very friendly and polite. Only one disappointment - there was no fridge in the room to keep our white wine chilled!

“ Top Tip: Good pub just accross the road - good food!
