Renovated in 2005, this hotel comprises a total of 210 rooms, set over several buildings. The main building houses the lobby with a 24-hour reception and safe. Further facilities include a newspaper stand, a cosy bar and an attractive restaurant. Those arriving by car may take advantage of the parking facilities.This hotel is located in the village of El Portal, on the Californian side of Lake Tahoe.
The entrance to the famous Yosemite National Park lies about 10 km from the hotel.The rooms are furnished in a rustic style and feature an en suite bathroom with a bath or shower, a direct dial telephone, satellite/cable TV, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The air conditioning and heating are individually regulated.Guests may use the hotel's indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi. There is also an outdoor swimming pool for seasonal use. The hotel provides an excellent base for extensive hiking and cycling tours in the region's unique landscape. Various water sports are available on the lake.

“ A great little hotel on the main road to Yosemite just opposite the Merced River where you can swim(there is a little man made sandy beach) Diner, restaurant and bar available on site which are fine in staying just couple of nights.Good swimming pool also,mainly used after 5 pm in summer due to searing heat during day.Open till dark.Rooms fine with balconies or terrace.Clean but furnishings rather old dark and mahogany!Would definately recommend this hotel though

“ Although the hotel lobby gives the impression of a quality hotel, the rooms were fairly standard basic motel-style. The hotel wi-fi only operates in the lobby which quickly gets crowded. The choice of restaurants was limited, and they were pricey for what they were with patchy service. (Most of the staff were older than us and we're seniors!)

“ The hotel was a bit further away from Yosemite Park than we expected. The facilities were basic and the info about hotel facilities on the internet were inaccurae e.g the site states laundry facilities are available. They are actually 7 miles away ! Not at all convenient. The dining options were limited - the diner was awful. The restaurant was OK. This hotel could do much more with the site it occupies. We stayed in 6 different accommodations on this road trip and this was definitely at the bottom of our list.
