This was the last hotel we stayed at during a 19 day trip to Florida and it didnt quite reach the expectations after looking at the photos on the website, etc. I believe its a 3 star which would be due to the facilities it has and I do wish I had booked the sister hotel just up the beach as we spent most of our time there. Sandpiper seemed to be more for older people without kids. Pete on front desk on arrival was a very nice guy and Mary at the Early Perks coffee place was nice and chatty as was the lady on check out.
I think this must have been a fabulous place when new but it is showing wear and tear now and could do with updating in places. We moved from our first room due to cockroach! and uncomfortable beds - that was gulf view. The courtyard suite we had for the next night was alot nicer, cleaner and with comfortable beds. The kids however noticed none of what we did - all they noticed was the pool and the slide on the beach which they loved.
“ Top Tip: The restaurant just up the road - buffalo bar and grille was superb steaks and ribs. Its attached to a hotel postcard inn.

“ Best Hotel at St Pete's Beach by far. Check-in was so quick and simple (and we arrived two and a half hours early). Staff could not be more helpful and we were upgraded for free to a balcony room with direct beach/gulf views. Any problems we had with the room during our stay were solved with a quick phone call to reception. Response time was 5 minutes or less. Cleaning was sporadic at first but improved as our stay progressed. Recommended!!!

“ Top Tip: Great 'Pizza & Wings' hut at the end of the street. Best pizza & wings in the area - can pick up your order or get it delivered to your hotel.

“ Fantastic position right on beach but the rooms were too small and decor was dated. We had booked a standard double/ twin but it was at back of hotel looking on multi storey car park and was like a dark cave. There were 2 beds but they filled the room .We had to upgrade at cost of $200.00 and got gulf front but still 2 beds and they were small . No space at all in bedroom. Could not get Queen size bed. The colour scheme was oppresive. Pipers patio cafe was not good and felt like a cheap cafe Staff were friendly but not professional
