“ Top Tip: fantastic location for downon disney,great walking distance

“ I found this to be a really good location having studied the pros and cons of all the disney resort hotels. Being a family of 5 the 1 bed suite provided us with ample room in a tastefully fully suite. My only minor critisms being not enough tea/coffee left in room and maybe a little more landscaping around the pool would be a bonus. However for a family of 5/6 this is definately somewhere to consider without having to go down the 2 room route of many other hotels.

“ Top Tip: Just across the road from Downtown Disney area, 5 min walk. Infact this hotel is better situated for Downtown disney than the Disney hotels!!

“ We had a suite 'on the Island' in this hotel where my husband was attending a conference. Booking the hotel through Travel Republic was a much better deal than the conference rates and we had a large suite with a good-sized bedroom, with over-sized double bed and a large lounge area. TVs, balconies and telephone in both rooms. Coffee-making facilities and microwave in the lounge area of the suite.

The rooms were cleaned well and the swimming pool area was clean, had lots of towels, flexible times and had a good, warm large leisure pool + jacuzzis. There was also a (cool) lap pool but this was good for a work-out on the warm days. There was also an excellnet leisure club and fitness suite. The staff were helpful and friendly.

The location was also good and within walking distance of Disney's Marketplace. It was also well-placed for visits to the parks and other areas of Orlando by car. Disney transportation was also available at the hotel and, from outside observation, seemed to work well, although we did not use it.

The main criticism, was the price of drinks in the bar eg a glass of wine was $12 to $14. This encouraged guests to drink elsewhere and this added to a lack of atmosphere in the bar area.

Apart from this a good, well-sited hotel, that generally lived up to its description, which would have rated 5 stars and an excellent rating if the bar prices had been a bit more reasonable. We have been to the Orlando area with family on several occasions so have tested the waters at various locations and would definitely stay here again In the future, we may bring our children and grandchildren to this hotel as we think it works as well, if not better, than some of the more expensive hotels in the Disney portfolio.

“ Top Tip: We love Benihanas at the Hilton (wlaking distance). Earl of Sandwich for a breakfast roll or lunchtime snack. Celebration, the town that Disney built, just south of the 192 is a favourite place to visit and stay (lots of wildlife round the lakes).

As 'oldies' we also visited Mount Dora and the Dora Canal boat trip was great

“ We have stayed at this hotel before and it has recently undergone a facelift. It's a very nice hotel, modern and upscale with large rooms. The hotel treated us very well on check in and gave us a bottle of wine for our anniversary and upgraded our room, which was lovely. Two major problems however. Firstly, this is probably the noisiest hotel we have ever stayed in. Our room, although lovely, had two connecting doors in it and we could hear every word of our neighbours conversations. Secondly, they are now doing an offer where kids eat free, so as you can imagine it was like a playground. Kids running along corridors, slamming doors and so on. Although close to Disney, this was always more of an adult hotel. Not anymore. Great place to stay but not if you plan on relaxing and getting a good nights sleep. Shame.

“ Top Tip: Avoid all of the restaurants in Downtown Disney, they are not very good. The restaurant in the hotel is okay, if you can excuse the service. Two restaurants near by that are excellent are Bluezoo by Todd English and Norman's at the Ritz Carlton. Both high end but well worth a visit.
