Hotel great but rooms could do with tea, coffee making facilities.

Top Tip: Las vegas is wonderful there is so much to do. A bus runs from the airport to the strip at $2 each. A taxi will cost you $25. The bus is so easy and well worth using. A two hour trip costs $5 but a 24 hour pass is only $7 and it makes it so easy to get around. The trip involves a lot of walking!

Very Good

Well, you expect Las Vegas to be big, brash and in your face and that is exactly how we found it - but not intimidating in any way and if you have planned a trip, great. If you thinking about it then just get on get booked!
The New York, New York is very well positioned on the strip and actually is not as big as you perhaps would think it is. For Las Vegas a couple of thousand bedrooms in a hotel is small!
We found the reception staff very friendly and the room we had was absolutely fine (Park Avenue double). Clean, plenty big enough with plenty of hot water and shower facility over the bath which worked particularly well. As you would expect the bedroom is air conditioned and considering there is a casino below you, when you closed your bedroom door you couldn't hear a thing! One minor detail for a major coffee drinker - I would have appreciated coffee making facilities in the room, but no big deal.
More restaurants in the hotel than you can shake a stick at plus of course you can walk into any other hotel and use any of their restaurants, so no shortage of food. Prices for meals are literally from inexpensive to wow that's a lot! So you can enjoy a meal to suit your budget.
Enjoy...

Top Tip: Nine fine Irishman pub in the NY,NY hotel has a great atmosphere and live music.Hotels close by include the MGM Grand, Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay, but really any hotel is easily accessible by a short taxi ride (There are plenty of taxi's in Vegas!)
Shows to see - many and I recommend you use the ticket kiosks on the strip as they do offer cheaper theatre tickets plus cut price entry into exhibitions. For example we went to the Cirque du soleil show in MGM Grand - Ka. The production is brilliantly done and I have never seen a stage that has been able to move to a totally vertical position before! A masterful performance to go and see. We also went to the Titanic exhibition in the Luxor which is really interesting and so it goes on...
We did have a little flutter on the tables, but I have to say that this appears to be an incredibly serious pastime and the croupier's seem to have no sense of humour whatsoever, but I guess this is how they are supposed to be?!
One of your night's should be allocated to a trip up to Freemont Street. Here are shops, bars, casinos all along a street which has a roof - not just any old roof but one with millions of lights in it which are used every hour for a very effective show to music. There are live bands on stages in different parts of the street and the atmosphere is just wonderful - get down there!
Finally, one of the greatest highlights for us (we were a group of 6) was to fly out to the Grand Canyon in a helicopter. We did this with Maverick helicopters and were collected from the hotel, down to the airport and set off in a 7 seater helicopter. Good views from wherever you sit in it and once everybody settled down for a few minutes, it really was a thrilling experience. You fly over the Hoover dam, then land in the Canyon, glass of champers and a small bite to eat, before setting off again. Everybody has earphones so you can chat to each other and the pilot talks you through the scenery. Great trip and really worth doing...
