John from Scarborough reviewed the Island Inn Hotel
Check-in Date: 28/May/2009

Very nice and helpful staff. Some people thought the bathrooms were fairly average but I thought they were OK. Either way I understand they are all being refurbished over the next few months. The meals and service were excellant and on a couple of nights there was live music. The hotel layout was all ground floor and it the layout made it seem more like a villa holiday. Very relaxing.

Top Tip Beech is a few strides away. Very lively familay entertainment at the nearby Harbour Lights with all sorts of things going on or at there is the Hilton next door. For a more lively time for the 20+ party people St. Lawrence Gap would be a better bet.

Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Hotel unique, if you want a box with a view then do not stay here. The hotel and grounds are lovely the atmosphere is very relaxed and the manageress appeared to care if you were having a good time. Would stay here again.

Top Tip Beach on the doorstep is great. Short trip to Bridgetown itself. Meet lots of very interesting taxi drivers!!!

Very friendly staff and atmosphere. Within easy walking distance of Bridgetown, especially via the fabulous beach !!
The bathroms are a little bit dated by UK standards, but are clean and functional..........what more is needed?
Beds big and comfortable, with firm mattresses.
Excellent all inclusive location. I would definitely return.

Top Tip Check out local Pebbles beach (1 minute walk) at 6am and watch the local racehorses swimming in the sea. Amazing sight.

Check-in Date: 13/Sep/2008

From the moment we entered the hotel we were made to feel welcome. The hotel only has 23 rooms so it was so much easier to get to know the other guests and the wonderful staff.
The rooms were very clean, all had air conditioning, and the housekeepers were there every day. They were friendly and obliging and nothing was too much trouble for them.
We were kept well informed about activities and events by the staff who arranged most of our trips for us.
The hotel is all inclusive and the food service and bar staff were wonderful. The atmosphere was much better than in a large hotel. We got to know all the staff on first name terms which added to our feeling of being special.
The food itself was first class. Cooked to order and always fresh. The food selection had something for everyone but if you required something different they were only too happy to help.
I only have one complaint..........The holiday was not long enough!
This hotel has so much character and history, oh! and green Monkeys in the trees. What a treat.

Top Tip Pebbles beach was no more than 100 yards away. Beautiful white sands, turquoise sea, blue skies and a breathtaking sunset.

A real find - a little gem. Small hotel - only about 16 people there when we stayed. This is not 5 star, but rooms have character - an old Navy rum store! Away from touristy area so real feel of Barbados. Locals are friendly and helpful. Staff are mature, friendly and efficient. Food is varied - buffet and a la carte - and of a far higher standard than we expected. All inclusive drinks were also of a high standard - got my favourite Tia Maria with my coffee. Coffee and Tea -available 24 hours. You get the impression that would go out of their way to meet your needs and help with any enquiries.

Top Tip Very close to small beach but walk a little further to Carliste Bay for a lovely big beach and loads of room. Keep walking along this beach and you will be in Bridgetown. Close to Race Course - great for morning run or walk with the locals round the jog track beside the race horses. Race day every 2nd Saturday is worth a visit.

An ideal place to stay if you want a bit of peace & quiet. A relaxed and very friendly atmosphere. Good local cuisine with nice wine.

Not an ideal place really for teenagers - not a great deal to do there for this age group. But there are places to visit all around that would suffice.

The rooms are basic but very clean and tidy. (Air conditioned)

There is a small pool at the back of the hotel and a lovely patio style area where the drinks are served. A good place to have a drink and chat to fellow guests.

The manageress there is so friendly she became one of the family instantly - She was lovely.

Would certainly recommend this place if you want to relax.

Top Tip Unfortunately, we were only stopping there overnight on our way to Bequia, but there seemed to be plently of shops and restaurants around the area - all within walking distance. Would like to go back there to discover more about the area.

Having stayed at the Island Inn before we knew what we were going to find, however it was great to find that it had improved. The staff, all of them did their best to make you comfortable and welcome.
If I had to find fault, which is difficult, some of the rooms would benefit from an update and a lick of paint - other than this the hotel is still the place to stay in Barbados

Top Tip The Beach is literally across the road and 50 metres from the Hotel, and an easy 30 minute walk along the beach into Bridgetown
