Noisy hotel during night time and very bad smelly furniture.
No entertainment for kids, so boring...
The beach was close, but the sea water was very dirty in afternoon.
Went to Hotel La Cala for a long weekend with some friends. We had requested rooms together with sea views which they provided. The view from the room is wonderful! The rooms are basic but kept very clean and the staff were extremely friendly. The food was lovely and the "help yourself bar" was excellent value for money. I would definitely visit Hotel La Cala again.
The beach is absolutely gorgeous - the pictures on the website don't do it justice.
not very happy with the single room as it was like a broom cuboard
food was not very warm at all
music in the hotel was played realy load some nights till after midnight
some staff were help full some were not
the beach was very close and clean the sea was great
This hotel is a no no, the food was not good it was cold, there was no entertainment, the pool was not clean,
booked to stay in the la cala but when arrived told we would be staying at the cala
mayor next door. told at the cala mayor no we are not stopping there told to go back to the la cala explained to him that we had been to the la cala got our wrist bands and told to report to the cala mayor.
after a phone call to the la cala we where met out side by the receptionist from the hotel who said we are now staying at the santa ana a half board hotel.
after sorting out our room we went for a drink at the bar after being served we where
asked for payment showed him wrist bands and said we are all inclusive guests not at this hotel he said.after asking him to ring reception to clear this matter it was ok.
went for evening meal buffet sat down eating our meal waiter came over to see if we wanted a drink on seeing our wrist bands he told us we have to move to another part of the dining room away from the half board guests. i refused saying i had started my meal and will finish it where i am sat the waiter got rather pushy saying we had to move NOW told him to go away and let us eat our meal in peace.
we sat in the all inclusive area the next night after being told there would be free drinks available waiter said i dont think the machines are working and just walked off
after meal went to terrace for a drink half board guests use glasses we were told we have to drink out of PLASTIC CUPS because we are all inclusive we complained and finally given glasses.
we and other guests moved from the la cala got the feeling we where 2nd class guests at the santa ana.
pools at both hotels are small and not many sunbeds but when you see the beach its no problem it is stunning with crystal clear water.
you can get straight on to the beach from the santa ana but not the la cala gate is locked have to go out of reception and down an alley bit of a pain when you want a drink and have to walk all the way back again. apart from these problems we had agood holiday but would only go back for the beach.
Location superb, only 15 minutes taxi ride from the airport and right on a well looked after beach. Never seen a hotel pool bar like it - self service!! Everything from coffee to cocktail machines-and no queues! Restaurant food ok and mostly Spanish but what the hey - give it a try! As a single traveller, the room allocated was really very small, had no balcony, no air con but free ants! On the 3rd floor! Never mind, the room was cleaned every day and all the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely going on the "will return" list. Booked holiday on previous day before flying out and no problems once again. Thanks Travel Republic, once again.
Definitely recommend the 10 - 15 minutes walk to the harbour.
the food at this hotel was not up to standard
Hotel was clean, staff were friendly, entertainment was poor.beware booking in mid june because we had a large number of spanish school-leavers in hotel and they were VERY noisy night and day until mid week also beware of "red day" when all the locals gather on the beach and party all night
marineland is worth a visit but not cheap
Cracking wee hotel right on the beach, we stayed 1 week AI and had a great time. Food was good (if your not a complete fusspot), the drink side of things was a bit strange, no bar staff, completley help yourself to everything and a great varation of drinks, never saw a que at the bar all week. Rooms cleaned daily and the majority of staff friendly.
One thing i would check if at all possible is to see if they have booked in any large party's whilst you are there, we had 50 Danish people check in for 3 days while we were there, and while they were out most of the time a couple of mealtimes were really busy when they all went in at once. On the morning we left there was a party of about 30-40 spanish teenagers arrived to book in, so well worth checking if at all possible.
All in all a great holiday.
The local beach about a 1 minute walk is fantastic.

We loved the location of this hotel right next to a beautiful beach. I asked for a
first floor room and got this with the bonus of a seaview. The reception staff were really pleasant and helpful. The room was a good size with lots of space for 3 comfortable beds. The All Inclusive restaurant was great. I was not expecting cooked breakfasts and such variety for the price we paid so was really impressed . The policy is "help yourself" to drinks/snacks from the bar which contributes to the "chilled out" vibe of this hotel. The entertainment is low key with the odd game of bingo and taped music. No mini disco for kids but as there were not many staying here (even at half term) we did not mind. Hotel attracts a mix of nationalities. It is close to Palma with a 20 minute transfer time by taxi. Only problem we found was a leak in our bidet! Bedrooms did not seem to be airconditioned but this was not a problem in May although maybe in August.
As a single mother on my own with two young children I felt very comfortable staying here. I would book with Travel Republic again.
Local beach on doorstep - great for kids and good amenities (lifeguard, showers & toilets).
Transfer from airport took only half an hour. The bus dropped us off on the main street through the resort and was told to walk down a narrow road to our hotel. We were a bit concerned at this point!(as the bus left us and we had,nt even seen our hotel).
As we approached the deadend of the road we were surrounded by 3 sister hotels of which La Cala Hotel was one of them(instantly recognised by the arches over the enterance we had seen on the internet)
All reception staff were friendly and helpful.
Our rooms were on the second floor No,s 210/209 which our balconies looked over the pool directly onto the golden sandy beach and clear blue sea(fantastic).
Rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels in the bathroom.
The resaurant was always clean and tidy with a reasonable selection of starters/main and dessert dishes.
My parents (in their 70s)had a fantastic time stolling from the open bar down to the beach and around the small selection of souveneer shops.
It was my mothers birthday when we were there and the hotel staff presented her with a large bottle of champange.(nice touch)
15 min walk takes you to the large marina and and main shopping area with resaurants, then if your fit turn left and go up 298 steps to the castle(2.50 euro entry)fantastic views across the marina all the way into Palma and you can also see the cathedral from there.
We will definitly go back to this hotel and book with Travel Republic, its so easy.
our hotel la cala was closed but we were upgraded to the Playa cala next door which is the same company. It was fanatstic, staff were great, food amazing, entertainment good and rooms massive. The beach was fantastic and right on our doorstep.although end of season, the atmosphere was great. bus stop just 100m away to take you to palma, but we did walk it and its a great walk along the marina, takes about an hour to get into palma town. Bus only 1 euro. all in i would definetly book again for this resort and hotel
Beach was superb, great karaoke bar and cocktail bar just round the corner from the hotel. Another beach, small but spotless, just 10min walk away

Me and Mum went for a four day break - had a fab time. The view from the hotel room was excellent and the location of the hotel (from Palma) was brill. Really chuffed with the hotel, staff were very friendly, good selection of food (this got better as the days went on - the hotel it had not been open long for the season) and the room was very clean and comfortable - towels changed every day.
The 'help yourself' to the drinks attitude was a great idea and I enjoyed the cocktails of the day. I would go back to the hotel and recommend it to friends and family, especially in May as the weather was fab, the hotel was very cheap. (£84pp for four nights all inclusive).
* Take a walk from the hotel and head to Palma - stay on the coastal road and walk along the front past the beautiful yachts
* Visit Palma Cathedral and take time to walk round the palace gardens
* Catch the train to Soller then the tram to Port de Soller (remember to catch the boat or bus back)
* Have a drink and some olives in the yacht club bar - explain to security that your just having a drink! Enjoy a bit of people watching
* Swim in the sea everyday - with the view from the hotel and the colour of the water you can't resist!
* Drink plenty of the mythos on draft and sample the cocktails of the day
