Excellent location, very friendly staff, cleaners also very good, just requires the bathrooms up-grading, and re decorating, plus A/C requires servicing very noisy fan motors, and probable dirty filters, quality and quantity of food very good, we both thought the variations were excellent, would stay again

Excellent beach, and reasonably priced loungers/ sun shade cover, walked 4 km to vilourama twice.

This hotel seems to be a favorite with the german holidaymakers, when we were there the percentage would be 80% german and the rest mixed nationality, if you do not mind sharing the facilities with ignorant germans then this is the place for you,they will barge you out of the way to get to the front,stand in front of you when taking photos ect ,the hotel has very poor room facilities you cannot even have a kettle in your room as this seems to be against safety rules, if you are looking to watch telly at all the room has 1 channel bbc world news we did not go on holiday to watch the telly but it is good to come in after being out all day to relax and watch telly for an hour or so before dinner ,telly in the downstairs bar area only seemed to show football from spain ect , we had a wonderful view from our room which made up a bit for the lack of facilties ,a great beach only 100 mtrs from hotel was another bonus ,if you want to visit other areas near by you may want to hire a car , we visit portugal around 3 times a year this is a good location if you want a quiet holiday

the dourada restaurant in nearby olhos do agua gives good value for money meals
also the intermarche supermarketin olhos do agua has a good range on offer if you go selfcatering

This Is was a great holiday with great service at hotel and great food. Found great bar just outside hotel grounds. Also please visit Honey farm only 2kms from hotel. Beach yards from hotel. What more can you want from hotel. Only downside a large group of british Tennis players arrived who were out drinking to early hours of morning staff didn't seem both about the noise they caused.

This hotel is advertised as 4 star accommodation but it fell well short of what I would expect from such a rating. The room and the meals were basic. The hotel caters principally for a German clientele so the food reflected this as did the TV stations available. We only stayed one night and that was enough!

The hotel was fine. I had quite and large room with a good size balcony. The hotel was generally clean and tidy and set in a fairy large attractive garden. The pool was good and outside towels were provided at no extra cost. I don't think that the food was four star however there was plently of it and for a short stay of upto a week would provide enough variety.

It only takes about three minutes to walk down to a very clean beach. A car would be required if you wanted to visit restauants and places of interest.

We were upgraded just before we travelled to half board at the hotel which was very fortunate for us , as it saved on the cost of eating out and the variety and choice on offer was excellent as was the service in general . The hotel was spotless and very smart and our seaview was breathtaking and the beach was less than two minutes away . The sporting facilities were less than advertised ( would have been disappointed if i`d intended using them ) and the bar was quite expensive but overall would recommend this for couples or older people looking for a quiet relaxing holiday .

Dont ask hotel to book taxis for you ,they use an executive service costing 50% more than local companies . Small restaurant/bar down from hotel was a lot cheaper for drinks too and had a cheap pool table which kids enjoyed

Stayed 6 nights half board at end of June 08, couple in early fifties.
Hotel is right on Beach. Very quiet area.Nothing at all close to Hotel, you need a car like we had. Portugal is good place to visit, great beaches, but expensive.
Food was ok, but nothing special. Sea view from our room was super.
No pool for kids so they are all in the main pool. Not enough sun beds.All taken by 9am so be quick. Not many English speaking visitors.No minbar or tea making facilities in rooms.Towels are provided for pool and beach use. Hotel suits families much better than couples. Large grass area in grounds near pool with plenty shade.
Entertainment was ok on just some nights. Hotel including reception, bars and restaurants were all too hot, didnt seem to want to put air con on. Air con in rooms was not adjustable for temperature.
We enjoyed our stay, but would not return.

Beach is near and good to walk along.

Stated on your web site that there was a childrens play area and free basketball, this was not avalible at this hotel. The receptionist said that your bedroom information was out of date. The third bed was a small camp bed which proved to be very uncomfortable for the third person. Dinner was at 6.30pm and not at 6.00pm as stated on your web site and that extra half an hour makes a lot of difference to a child!!! The outdoor pool was so cold that it was hardly used and the indoor pool was small, dark and lots of the tiles were loose in the pool, as a result we got cut hands and feet. Apart from the above everything else was great.

Great hotel, the only problem i would say would have to be with regards to the availability of food/snacks. As we were only bed and breakfast we did not have the dinner buffet, we often went to the little restaurant down the road from the hotel (didnt look like much but the food was great) The were no places within the hotel to get a snack after 6pm, which was a bit of a downfall.

THE HOTEL WAS VERY CLEAN AND IN GOOD CONDITION BUT WE WERE VERY DISAPOINTED WITH THE FOOD, ESPECIALLY THE BREAKFAST. ALSO WE FOUND THE STAFF TO BE VERY UNHELPFUL.

The hotel was very nice views great easy access to the beach. there were areas hich were out of date such as indoor swim pool area. Jacuzzi was great but only 1 was working. Hotel was not displaying any local places of interest but staff was helpful front desk. Receptionist very pleasent specialy Isabell. Dinner graet lots of choice breakfast also. Went out of season not everthing was in operation. Beach brilliant safe and clean just minutes away.
If you go to this hotel and have kids book to go to z00marina ask for taxi cost 23Euros pleasenet taxi drivers mainly mercedes benz, worth it. Buses are around much cheaper just didi not want the hustle and bustle knowing that im on holiday.
No where close to the hotel to eat bit of the track and beet but relaxing.
Got to go to gypsy market well worth a browse.Nice day out eat drink catch taxi 23 Euros. Will go again.

top class beach 3 minute walk

Excellent hotel with a great beach & pool. Fantastic relaxing break

The hotel was ok and a good location but for some reason it was nearly imposible to get a taxi from the hotel. We were not the only people that had this problem and it was not uncomon to be left waiting for over an hour and then to be told they did not know how long the taxi would be

Hotel was great. Food was good, and beach was fantastic. If you are after a quiet relaxing holiday this hotel is for you.

Great walks especially along the long sandy beach.

Very poor service on all the bars in the evening which was unacceptable.There was also a small group of yobs that continued to upset and insult any guests that came within a short distance of them and every evening they managed to empty the bars and entertainment area because of their bad behaviour and the management were prepared to put up with it.We have stayed at the Alfamar on several occasions but will not be going back.

Really enjoyed the holiday with my fianc'ee.
Hotel right on the beach and was given a sea view even though asked for inland view.
Hotel was spotlessly clean and staff very friendly.Drinks were reasonably priced for a hotel.Would have been nice if hotel was all inclusive

You need a car as the hotel is a little bit out of the way.
Small Bar outside the hotel called the Beer Grden if you want a change from drinking in the hotel.

Having visited the hotel in 2006 I was disappointed to find some changes to extort additional money - i.e. a fridge was an additional 6E per day , air conditing was also on top along with a cost for the safe - all of which you have to request at the extremely busy reception where being able to speak Portuguese gives you priority. The kids club was also no longer free but a 10E cost per day. The location is still fantastic if all you want is a beach & pool holiday and the food is also good but I wouldnt now choose to stay there again.

BEUTIFULL HOTEL, WELL MAINTAINED. HOTEL GARDENS STUNNING, STAFF LOVELY, MADE US FEEL REALY WELCOME, FOOD OUTSTANDING, EXCELLENT FACILITIES, POOL, BARS, RESTRAUNTS, SHOPS, BEUTIFUL BEACH JUST A SHORT WALK, THROUGH HOTEL GARDENS. GEORGEOUS WEATHER, HIGHLEY RECOMMENDED!

TWO MINUTE WALK TOO BUITIFULL BEACH..

We enjoyed our stay at the Alfamar. The food was good, the grounds very well kept and rooms comfortable. TV channels were German or Portugese with the exception of 2 news programmes in English - nothing else. Although there were plenty of sunbeds, there should have been a lot more as we had the age old problem of not getting one all through the holiday but we ended up on the beach which was lovely. We were charged for the sunbeds on the beach which I think was unfair and, as hotel guests, should have been free. The beach was clean and great fun as, at certain times of the day, big rollers would come in. Bigger kids loved it but maybe a little unsafe for tiny ones.

Get up early for the sunbeds!!
