Joan from Dublin reviewed the Parque Mourabel/Pe Do Lago/Oasis Village Hotel
Check-in Date: 29/Jul/2010

We got exactly what we had booked, a self catering studio apartment, which was regularly cleaned and had good cooking facilities. There was a nice pool just across the road. Staff at reception were very helpful.
However on the downside, we had no air-conditioning which in July/August is really a must.
It was also a bit of a walk to beach and marina.

Top Tip Very near the apartments, is a very good restaurant, "CHEZ CARLOS" we had a lovely meal
and the bill was very reasonable.

Old style basic but clean accommodation.
Taxi ride (4 euro) from Marina & beach.
Met our requirements for cheap overnight stay but would not stay for a week.

Michelle from Brighton reviewed the Parque Mourabel/Pe Do Lago/Oasis Village Hotel
Check-in Date: 06/Jul/2010

The HOtel was basic but more than adequate for our stay. The Pool and communal areas were clean as was the apartment itself. All the staff were extremely friendly and we had an enjoyable stay and would most certainly stay there again.

Top Tip The walk to the Marina took approximately 20-30 minutes, it is a beautiful walk with some wonderful exercise equipment along the way. We found this very strange but a really good idea to encourage people to exercise. The marina has a host of restaurants, bars and clubs - there is something for everyone.

Check-in Date: 17/Jun/2010

Despite mixed reviews, found the hotel adequate for purposes - was a bit out of the way, although found out few days in that they had a mini-bus that went into Villamoura at, 9am, 11am and 4pm, and returning as well. Was travelling with group of friends who were in a different hotel, and as such I was on my own and had a studio appartment, which was fine. Was spacious (bigger than normal hotel room) included small kitchen with oven and fridge (which was handy) a dining room table, two single beds, small telly, bathroom, and balcony. They also had a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. What was important to me was that it was clean, and certainly value for money. Pool area was fine, nice grounds, sunbeds had removable plastic cusions, pool itself was cold, but fine once braced the initial shock. They had a bar, restaurant area and entertainment in evenings, but didn't take part. Found that area a bit basic, plastic tables, but fine for a drink or snack during day. Also had big TV's (world cup was on...). I believe in some of the larger apartments included larger TV/Satellite.

Top Tip The beach in Villamoura is lovely, sea can have bit of a current, but plently of coastguards around. Marina lovely as well, mix of some lovely restaurants as well as standard pizzarias and pubs, with the usual type of Irish and/or English pubs dotted around. Also went to Quarteria for a change - beach the other side of Villamoura, bit more downmarket, but promenade lovely - nice for a stroll, restaurants better value, and had a few local stalls, with some nice jewelery and bits/bobs.

hotel complex was large with good facilities. The hotel was extremely clean in all areas including our room which had its towels and sheets changed daily. All staff from cleaners, to restaurant and reception people were absolutely wonderful so helpful and friendly nothing too much trouble. At such a quiet time it was so peaceful and lovely to sit by the pool with such lovely gardens (the pool with the child's pool).
Although the beach and marina were not on the doorstep the walk down through the park was delightful taking about 20 minutes altough you soon find short cuts.
Being so close to the airport vilamoura is ideal if a little expensive.

Top Tip after checking out the top ten restaurants before going we did visit the no. 1 the fishermans shack which was as promised absolutely wonderful with excellent staff, what a treat. Quateria just down from vilamoura has great beaches and is a lttle less upmarket than the marina if you fancy a change. Good bus service if you don'y fancy the walk. Parkys bar a bit nearer just down road from hotel has good atmosphere and is cheap drink, try the restaurant right next to it chez something (i forget) great steak!

Check-in Date: 09/Apr/2010

We have no complaints about the meals we had but the apartment itself was not very clean and very shabby. It was supposed to be a 3* but we would not give it 2!

Top Tip We only stayed 1 night and ate in the sister hotel, so did not go anywhere around the resort.

Have been here three times in total. Friendly staff, accommodation always clean and good value for money. Superior studios are of a very high standard and worth paying extra for.

Top Tip Lovely beach behind the marina plus lots of choice for eating out.

Ideal base for a short winter break. Well appointed studio - spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need to self cater to high standards. Have booked to return next year. Half board option was good value and food well presented.

Top Tip Short taxi ride (or pleasant walk) to the Marina in Vilamoura with plenty of choice of restaurants and nearby first class beach.

Check-in Date: 18/Oct/2009

I booked late through Travel Republic and Easyjet to join my family who had already booked a package hol with Thomas Cook. I had a spacious, well equipped clean room and my requests had been met (travel cot/non smoking) and was able to get straight to my room whereas my family found that through Thomas Cook non of their requirements had been met, no cot, not situated close to other family members and a 2 hour wait to get into their room! I arranged my own transfer thru the hotel and all went smoothly :) Value for money at the hotel was great (5 euros for all you can eat breakfast buffet) staff were great. Only comment I would have was that I was placed very far away from main reception and near a main road and was alone with a 3 year old, it was a bit secluded for me but am sure would be great for alarger family.
My family are kicking themselves and feel they got nothing extra from Thomas Cook (as well as being charged 84Euros at the airport for alleged increase in luggage weight) and are booking with Travel republic next time!

Martin from Poole reviewed the Parque Mourabel/Pe Do Lago/Oasis Village Hotel
Check-in Date: 11/Oct/2009

The pool, bar and restaraunt were very poor for the size of the complex, also the food choice for half board was limited. It was a 30 min walk to the nearest beach as we are quite fit people this was ok but for older people it would have been to far, a limited minibus service is available but only ran 3 times a day.
We were very fortunate that we had very good weather and spent most of our time away from the hotel it would have been long days if the weather had been against us.
The studio apartment was adequate and apart from having our room cleaned at 6.30pm we have no complaints about the room.
This for us was an ideal base for a beach/golf holiday but would not return to this hotel

This is my second stay at this hotel and I would recommend it to family and friends. The Pe Do Lago apartment was clean to the highest standard and every effort was made for the comfort of the guest. The staff friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay there.

Check-in Date: 17/Aug/2009

1. Room/Apartment didn't look as though it had been cleaned for some time as there was rubbish under the beds and on the sofa bed.
2. In the bathroom the bath/sink & wc hadn't been cleaned and were a grimy, grey colour.
3. All of the fixtures/fittings were 'worn' and there were a number of broken items & signs of previous 'botched' repairs;
4. A couple of light bulbs were missing and some of the visible wiring was a potential Health & Safety risk;
5. The room/apartment did not have air-conditioning so was extremely hot & uncomfortable at night (even with all the windows open);
5. We didn't risk using the kitchen too much, based on the lack of cleanliness noted above!
6. Not sure what the '3-stars' are for?!

Top Tip There is a bar/restaurant below the hotel/apartments, but we didn't venture in to it as we knew that there was plenty of choice in the centre of Vilamoura, especially around the Marina. The centre of Vilamoura is a good 20-30 minute walk so a car or taxi is required.

No local beaches within easy walking distance.

The apartments and even more the bathrooms really do need renovating to bring it back up to a three star rated hotel its advertised as but it really is not at the moment.
The towels were changed daily but the beding was not changed all week.

Barbara from Hartlepool reviewed the Parque Mourabel/Pe Do Lago/Oasis Village Hotel
Check-in Date: 09/Jun/2009

We have stayed at this Hotel 3 years running (including this year). The first two years we were happy with the accommodation. This year we booked a Studio Superior as other years but on arrival we were given an apartment which was far from superior. Furniture was damaged or broken, the bath and toilet were cracked and yellow. I immediately complained to Reception, who remembered we had stayed there before. They told us to go back to Reception the next day when they would show us another room, which we did. This room was totally the opposite to the one we had been given. It was light and modern with a balcony overlooking the pool. The hotel needs to update the remaining rooms or they will receive bad reports on the internet.

The hotel was very dated and need a lick of paint. The apartment was clean but furniture worn. For the price can't grumble too much.

Top Tip Park'ts bar very nice and cheap

Wendy from Surbiton reviewed the Parque Mourabel/Pe Do Lago/Oasis Village Hotel
Check-in Date: 07/May/2009

One part of the complex was undergoing maintenance so v dusty. The whole area was dirty and unkempt - our apartment was clean inside - balcony was not clean and the chairs/table and loungers were dirty as if they'd been left out all winter. Towels had seen better days in the bathroom - all frayed at the edges! Whole complex was in need of updating.
The restaurant for breakfast was good - food and choice of food good and staff helpful and attentive.

Top Tip Take the little road train, which stops outside the complex, to Villamoura and Falasia beach (beautiful sandy beach) with cafes at intervals along it.
