Holidays to Santo Tomas
On the south of the island of Menorca, Santo Tomas is quiet, laidback resort just 25km from the airport. Everything here is about the beach – backed by sand dunes with calm, shallow waters it’s a sunbather’s idea of heaven. If you do manage to tear yourself off the sands, there are walking and cycling trails along the coast towards nearby resorts like Son Bou.
Playa Santo Tomas
The wider of the resort’s 2 beaches, this hotel-lined beach is a series of sandy dunes with bars and cafes on the sand.
Playa San Adeodato
A long stretch of sand all the way to nearby Binigaus, this is the beach for surfing, pedaloes and wind surfing.
Visit these pyramid-shaped stone Bronze Age monuments which are thought to have been used for defensive purposes.
A collection of megalithic stone monuments, their purpose is unknown, but they are the work of prehistoric humans.
San Juan Fiesta
The San Juan Festival takes place in the summer, and involves 100 Menorca-bred horses riding through the streets.
Shopping in Mahon
If you're in the mood to shop, head to Mahon, home to plenty of quaint shops that sell all manner of things.
As real as they come
The most authentic food is at one of the 3 restaurants in Es Migjorn Gran – don’t expect to speak English here though.
Santo Tomas has 2 local bakeries – try the savoury pastries with vegetable or meat fillings.
The Lord Nelson Hotel has – as the name suggests – a British-style pub that opens late with a disco til the early hours.
Halley Bar is Santo Tomas’ bar where big screens show live sport and the only bar in the area which serves Guinness.
