Holidays to Molyvos/Mithymna
On the north coast of Lesvos, the historic town of Molyvos, also known as Mithymna, is one of the prettiest places on the island. Archaeological finds show it has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, and its castle and architecture are symbols of its turbulent past. It’s a good place to base yourself as you’re within an hour or so of just about any town or beach on the island. The harbour bristles with life, and has shops and restaurants.
The large town beach is made up of small stones giving way to soft sand and calm water. The castle views are amazing.
Sunloungers and parasols stretch out along this big well-equipped beach. It’s backed by a row of cafes and restaurants.
Built by the Byzantines, the castle was captured by Achilles during the Trojan War. The views of the town are wonderful.
