Southport is a large coastal town in Merseyside and is one of the UK’s most popular seaside areas. Looking out onto the Irish Sea, it’s a much-loved destination for many in England’s north west, thanks to its close proximity to the cities of Liverpool (27km away) and Preston (24km away) and idyllic coastline. Southport is also home to one of the largest sand dune systems in the UK, which can be found across all of its beaches, making it an excellent place to explore as a family or couple. Crosby Beach is where you’ll find famous art installation ‘Another Place’ by Antony Gormley, which features 100 life-size iron statues all gazing out to sea. Southport is easy to reach, with Liverpool John Lennon Airport around an hour’s drive away for international travellers. The town also has its own railway station, which serves lots of destinations across northern England.
