Holidays to Tragaki
Set on the north coast of the Greek island of Zante, Tragaki is a sleepy, tiny village slightly off the beaten track. It's set in the hills away from the coast among olive groves and vineyards, away from busy beaches and party towns which makes it popular with those wanting complete escapism. Although, if you do feel like exploring, it’s a 30 minute drive to the capital, Zante Town, and 10 minutes from a handful of quiet beaches.
This is the closest beach to the hilltop village of Tragaki. It boasts a 2km swathe of golden sand and shallow waters.
This Blue Flag beach neighbours Tsilivi and is a favourite with families for its calm atmosphere and sunloungers.
A treasure trove of sculpture from the Byzantine and Hellenistic eras, it also features icons from island churches.
Cultural Centre and Library
The library here contains over 50,000 works, plus an art gallery and a display of dolls in traditional dress.
With its teeming sea life, the Blue Grotto, at the very tip of the island, is a great spot for scuba diving.
Head into the lesser-known central region as your guide drives down dirt tracks to explore villages and tavernas.
Dine with locals
The village of Tragaki might be sleepy but it’s packed with family run backstreet tavernas serving tasty local food.
If you’re in Zante Town, be sure to try one of the harbour front restaurants. Most of them serve tasty fresh seafood.
Late nights in Tsilivi
Nightlife in Tragaki doesn’t exist, so you’ll need to head to Tsilivi where you’ll find lively all-night cocktail bars.
There are a handful of little, quiet local tavernas in Tragaki which are perfect for a romantic dinner.
