Holidays to Lachania
The remote feel of this photogenic mountain village in the south east of Rhodes gives you a real sense of getting away from it all. Whitewashed houses with blue doors are surrounded by valleys, meadows and olive groves. Oranges and pomegranates grow in many gardens, and cats roam the streets. The village square has a church, tavern and a couple of cafes. Lindos, about half an hour away, has much more in the way of entertainment.
The village beach is a short drive down the hill. It’s large and quiet, and lined with several bars and restaurants.
An important turtle nesting site, this natural bay stretches for 4km, with spectacular dunes and lush greenery.
Acropolis of Rhodes
This once powerful city now lays in ruin and you can explore the remains of a temple, theatre and stadium on foot.
Excavations have uncovered an ancient city. Water supply systems, a market place and a temple can still be seen.
Fancy something a little different? Take a guided Segway tour of Rhodes to see the main sights.
Kids are sure to love the Falaraki Water Park, which boasts plenty of water slides and pool games.
There are only a couple of cafes and a tavern in the village square, but the beach hotels have plenty of variety.
Try this delicious Greek pasta – it’s egg noodles usually served with tomato sauce or meat, particularly chicken.
Mojito Beach Bar
Settle back for evening cocktails listening to music on the beach at this chilled out boho bar with bamboo furniture.
For a traditional evening, choose this family run restaurant in the square, where Greek music is sometimes played.
