Holidays to Agia Efimia
This pretty fishing village is tucked away on the east coast of Kefalonia. Its sheltered harbour is a haven for those cruising the Ionian islands, while the many and varied waterside cafes and tavernas are warm and friendly and cater for all tastes. Sun-worshippers can also enjoy the many beaches in the area. The village has outstanding views of Ithaca, and thanks to excellent ferry links, it’s easy to explore further afield, including mainland Greece, Italy and even Albania.
Agia Effimia Beach
Small and picturesque, the local beach is, like so many others in the area, made up of small pebbles and sand.
At the far end of the village lies this wild haven. Accessible by climbing the rocks or via 2 flights of stone steps.
Monastery of Agios Gerasimos
This is one of the most important places in Kefalonia and holds the remains of the island's patron saint.
Kai Laografiko Mouseio
This historical folk museum, though not expansive, is interesting with lots of artefacts from island life.
Sea Kayaking to the Caves
With Azure waters and impressive rock formations, there's no better way to explore Kefalonia's caves than by kayak.
Go wine tasting
There are several vineyards and wineries dotted about the island where you can sample produce from the local vines.
Kefalonians are notoriously sweet-toothed, you can't leave the island without trying its syrup-soaked walnut cake.
As well as traditional Greek meals, those missing a taste of home can sample a old fashioned full English at a taverna.
Gialos Cafe Bar
Just one example of a local friendly and welcoming bar. If you’re around the next morning, they make breakfast too.
Fior d’amore Cafe Bar
Situated in the corner of the harbour front, this is a great place for people watching whilst enjoying an evening beer.
