Hotel was very hand for the train station and the Main Street in Canterbury. Staff were outstandingly helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Very enjoyable stay.

For us as train travellers the Falstaff was in the perfect location thanks to being so close to Canterbury West station. But on our first stay we did encounter a number of problems. The hotel was clearly short of staff, breakfast was something of a shambles (the staffing issue didn't help with this) and we were disappointed that, having left our luggage in reception because our room was not ready when we arrived, we had to carry it up an extremely difficult staircase ourselves when we returned two hours later. Our hospitality tray was also not replenished - we felt this was careless and slipshod.
On the plus side my stepson was celebrating his 30th birthday and one of the staff David offered some exceptional customer service to help us enjoy this occasion. We also enjoyed a high standard meal at the hotel's restaurant in the evening. This and the Falstaff's convenient situation mean we will return to the hotel soon - but we will be disappointed if shortcomings such as those highlighted above have not been addressed.
