We booked three nights stay at this hotel but left two days early due to the noise from leaving customers and a constant door below our room banging. At first glance the inn looked tired, unkept and unloved there was noone to greet or meet us on arrival and we managed to find a person at the bar. Our room was situated at the top floor which I requested. It was immediatley apparent that I was unable to stand up right due to the low ceiling which was even lower in the bathroom all mirrors were at chest height anyone 5ft 8" and over would have a problem. The furniture and decor was very dated and worn. Two good points about the room was that it was very clean and tea and coffee was offered in abundance. Most importantly there was no security to the internal door from the pub to the private quarters nor to the front door which we found open on two occasions returning from our walks and yet we were given keys? There are no emergency switches to the bathroom in case of accidents nor are there phones in the room and at the cost that was paid we would have expected this. Overall this Inn needs tender loving care not only to update it but to the customers who pay good money for any hospitality. It needs a receptionist at the door at all times for security and to welcome guests, to control noise by putting notices asking customers to please be aware of private residents, more light, updated decor and to check mend and fix. Owners who care would already do these things if they want to succeed in business.
