The Palais Salam remains a personal favourite. Set in a charming garden with gloriously characterful common parts of the hotel this is a long established hotel that seems to be suffering from competition from more modern and comfortable accommodation that had sprung up elsewhere. There are two pools, a bar, night club and a currently rather underused restaurant. Warm service from long serving and loyal employees. It didn't trouble me unduly but in my three day stay there was no hot water. My room however was blissfully comfortable.
