The Mount Hotel is very unsophisticated. That is meant as a compliment. It made me feel very comfortable. It does seem to cater for the older generation - over 70's. I am in my sixties and felt quite young. The staff are very friendly and helpful, including the cleaner. Breakfast was extremely good and service was so quick - I waited almost 5 minutes to be served! Tea and coffee was offered as soon as I sat at the table and the menu handed to me. Breakfast was extensive, offering a full English or continental. It was also possible to make a choice from the full English menu. Lots of toast and the best marmalade ever. The exceptional waitress, who I believe was called Linda, seemed to know everyone as she had obviously worked in the hotel for many years. She put a "reservation" sign on my table so that I could have the same table each day of my stay. I was offered more toast when I had finished the extremely filling breakfast. The room was double, even though I was on my own. Well furnished, clean and comfortable. The only problem I experienced (no fault of the hotel), was the extreme noise from the seagulls. I had to close my window, even though it was very warm, because of the noise they were making. All in all a very good hotel. I could certainly recommend it, but only to older people.
