We have never stayed at a hotel and left a day early but made an exception here. The staff were absolutely lovely and the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable but the size of the hotel restaurant for dining (including breakfast) was extremely disappointing. On the first morning of our three day planned stay we were shown into a room two rooms away from the food hall and across a corridor. The second day we waited a long time to be allocated a table and when we were the poor young waitress was highly embarrassed to be cleaning the table as we were seated. Some people were being brought into the breakfast room to be seated and had to go back out into the hallway as there was no room. There was one toaster and one drinks dispenser for at least 328 rooms plus suites (the hotel was said to be full). On the first day the beans in the coffee dispenser was out and people were just walking away, on the second day there was no bread in the bowl for the toast or beans in the coffee dispenser... There was also just one counter at which breakfasts was self served - there was no way that everyone could get a warm drink, toast and a breakfast and it all the warm... The restaurant where we ate the second night was very warm and the staff had the windows open but as there were flowers under the windows the room was plagued with wasps - which the staff said was 'normal'. On the first night of our stay we arrived quite late and a disco was in full swing. There was no room in the car park and people were being directed to an overflow car park up a road some way a way. The hotel did not have the booking that we made via Travel Republic and the staff said it was due to Travel Republic having the wrong post code so they were unaware we would be arriving and did not have our 'special requests' which was for a quite room. Eventually this was sorted out as we had a copy of our booking details which I had printed off the computer. A couple was in the reception asking to be moved to another room as they had requested a quite room, quite a while ago, and they were above the disco... Luckily our room was not in the vicinity of the noise and although we could hear the guests outside drinking it did not stop us from sleeping. On the second night however there was a wedding party in and after our dismal dining experience we went to the room to find the room literally bouncing with the music downstairs. The guests in the grounds were directly under the window, they were obviously drinking heavily and screaming and shouting... We went down to reception where a couple were asking to be moved but the poor receptionist was informing them that the hotel was booked up. They asked her to ring around to find alternative accommodation in a nearby hotel but she said she couldn't. We don't know if they did book out or not. We asked the other receptionist to be moved and we were asked to go back to our room and someone would come and see us. When we got back to our room my husband turned on the TV to try and block out some of the noise but the TV had ceased to have a signal. Approx fifteen minutes later a man arrived with a card key for another room and we were moved there. Although we were out of the direct noise of the wedding reception disco the guests children were still running around screaming. We left the next day - a day earlier than planned and because the room had not refund we lost the money for that night's accommodation too. Least to say we will not be returning.
