With holidays to mainland Spain revolving around the Costas, we’ve put a spotlight on Salou in Costa Dorada.
It’s not hard to fall in love with Salou’s coastline, characterful town, age-old traditions and tasty tapas bars, so here are some of our top recommendations for your next visit. Plus, being so close to Barcelona means you can tick two destinations off your bucket list.

Just 20 minutes from Salou, Europe’s most iconic theme park packs a real punch and will be a hit with all the family. There are even shopping areas, dance shows, beaches, and restaurants for your convenience.
2. Llarga Beach
Known as the Golden Coast, Salou is home to several beaches, one of which is Llarga Beach. This semi-urban sand beach is surrounded by forests and a rocky promenade; it’s perfect for family days out of the centre of town. You’ll find basic facilities here such as showers and toilets, and a beach bar.
3. Las Nits Dauradas
Every August, the biggest summer festival in Salou takes place also known as The Golden Nights. A week of music and cultural events, golden firework displays, and hundreds of crowds bring the city to life.
Visit the port city of Tarragona which was once the Roman colony of Tarraco. The second largest city in Catalonia holds many remnants of its past, from Roman tombs to the Medieval Old Town. Be sure to explore the Roman Amphitheatre by the seafront and the Passeig Arqueològic – a path that winds alongside the city walls, gardens and landmarks. By night, enjoy the local nightlife and seafood restaurants.
Take a day trip to Barcelona and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of the city. Whether you hit the shops along La Rambla, take a pit stop in Park Güell or tour the Gothic quarter’s architecture, you’ll find plenty to do in Barcelona. Only a 90 minute train ride from Salou, it’s worth penciling in this trip in your diary.

Located in the centre of Salou, this multi-adventure park is an ideal family activity to burn some energy! There’s more than 800m2 of space with four zip line circuits and 55 different tree top games. Plus, there’s a dedicated paint balling area, mini golf course, and picnic facilities.
