Thinking About A Weekend Break In The UK?

Thinking About A Weekend Break In The UK?

We’ve all heard the phrase staycation but how many of us consider them?

The phrase was coined a few years back to describe a holiday taken right here, in the UK! Despite it growing as a hashtag and social media caption, there still seems to be a slight stigma around whether a break in the UK is in fact a holiday.

“It’s not a holiday if it’s taken in my home country”

“The weather is rubbish here”

“I’ve got the whole world to explore, why would I holiday where I live”

These are just a some of the things we hear about taking holidays in the UK– if you ask us, we think they are all weak excuses and we’re here to tell you why!

  • A holiday can be taken anywhere, as long as you are not carrying out the daily grind like work or school! The UK has amazing places to explore, there are loads of attractions and plenty of opportunities for some R&R! We even have some beaches that wouldn’t look out of place in the Med!
  • We have a temperate maritime climate. This means that our winters are not much lower than 0ºC and our summers are not much higher than 32ºC. In short, it’s never too cold or too hot, making it the perfect destination to enjoy all four seasons and a range of weather appropriate activities!
  • While we totally agree that there is a big world out there to explore, the UK is very much part of that with tons to do right on our doorstep. After all, there is a reason why millions of tourists’ flood in each year!

So now you know why the UK is a hot spot for holidays, we’re ready to back it up with some places to go!

A UK Town Or City Break

Brighton

We love Brighton. The seaside town in Sussex, that is just 40 minutes from London, is full of style, culture and, a hugely diverse population.

The perfect mix of retro seaside town, modern marina and chic bars, historic cobbled streets and art studios – plus both high street and vintage shopping. Brighton is also full of food, art and music – it really has something for everyone. Oh, and it even has its own Indian palace!

We recommend staying at The Brighton Hotel! Perfectly located on the seafront, it offers iconic views of Brighton.

Liverpool

How about the city of Liverpool? It’s often overshadowed by other cities, such as, London, Manchester or Glasgow, but we rate Liverpool for a UK break!

Full of culture and amazing for shopping, it’s a win-win situation (unless you hate shopping, or culture!) This historic city has the river Mersey at its heart, which gives it strong maritime routes. With its interestingly designed buildings, it was awarded the accolade of European Capital of Culture in 2008. And of course, it’s the home place of the Beetles so all good things clearly come from Liverpool!

We recommend staying at Bridgestreet Services Apartments! These 4-star Apartments are situated in the heart of Liverpool ONE’s shopping district and offer great views across Liverpool city.

We can’t talk about the UK and not mention the most famous and lively capital: London. London holds some of the UK’s most popular landmarks such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye and home of the queen, Buckingham Palace! These are all worth taking a trip to the big city for but don’t let that be the only thing you see in London. Being one of the words most cosmopolitan and culturally diverse cities, there is always something new to take part in and discover. Join in festivals, parades, exhibitions and, attractions that will keep your holiday jam packed with fun and excitement!

We recommend staying at Baglioni Hotel! For a touch of class and elegance, this hotel is up there with the best. Centrally located in London, you’ll be 0.7 mi (1.2 km) from Natural History Museum!
