Best Holiday Destinations in June

Summer is fast approaching, but many of us have yet to book a holiday to sunnier climes for a week or two of sunbathing, swimming in the sea or reclining by the pool. However, all is not lost – in fact, booking a last minute holiday to enjoy in June is the perfect way to relax and unwind.

Holiday destinations are very affordable in June due to the fact that the school summer holidays are yet to begin (meaning you’ll benefit from the summer sun with plenty of space for your towel on the beach), and you might even be able to take advantage of last minute deals and discounts too.

If you’re in need of a little inspiration, here are four fantastic holiday destinations to travel to in June.

Dubai

Don’t be put off by the naysayers who like to think it’s too hot to visit Dubai in June – it’s not! You’ll need to be a sun-lover, that’s for sure, but the heat is easily manageable if you plan to relax in a chilled hotel pool and will take a sensible approach to staying hydrated.

If you like to shop, June’s a fantastic time to visit Dubai as you’ll get to make the most of the air-conditioned shopping malls that feature some of the best retailers in the world. Some tourist attractions (such as the desert safari) take place during the night when the temperatures are cooler, and the Burj Khalifa is also air-conditioned. Plus, heading to Dubai in June means you’re likely to snap up a great deal on a luxurious hotel, so consider this holiday destination for a last minute trip.

Canary Islands

A collection of Spanish islands positioned off the west of Africa, the Canary Islands are a popular destination with holidaymakers owing to the warm weather, short flight times and variety of things to see and do.

If you’re wondering which Canary Island to go to, narrow down your options to the largest five islands. Lanzarote is ideal if you’d like an outdoor holiday with opportunities to hike and cycle, and Fuerteventura is perfect if you want to make the most of the opportunity to surf. La Palma is perfect for history, shopping and picture-perfect scenery, whereas Tenerife and Gran Canaria are ideal if you’re after miles of sandy beaches, fantastic waterparks and other excellent entertainment options.

Wherever you choose, you’re pretty much guaranteed warm temperatures and clear blue skies – June marks the beginning of summertime in the Canary Islands, making it a wonderful time of year to visit.

Mexico

At this time of year, temperatures in Mexico hover around 30°C with similarly warm sea temperatures. So, you’re certain to have plenty of opportunity to work on your tan. Mexico can be a little humid and prone to sudden showers in June, but the warm weather and seemingly endless number of sunshine hours more than makes up for it. If you can tear yourself away from the beautiful beaches, check out the remnants of the great Mayan cities while you’re in Mexico, such as those at Tulum on the the Yucatán Peninsula.

Ibiza

If you’d like a lively holiday with great music, an energetic atmosphere and fabulous beaches, you can’t do better than Ibiza – the clubbing capital of Europe. However, Ibiza has so much more to offer than nightclubs: there are white sandy beaches, quiet coastal villages and chic markets to enjoy, and you can visit them all without being disturbed by the all-night parties – even in the high season. Santa Eulalia, Es Cana and Portinatx are all resorts we love for their tranquility, tradition and beauty, and are well worth a visit whether you’re travelling alone, as a couple, or as a family with very young children.
