We declare our very own month-long festival of #EatStayLove during February. Please join and celebrate with us at The Travel Republic!
Why? Well there are two reasons really:
1) This month marks the 10 year anniversary of Eat Pray Love; the epic novel by Elizabeth Gilbert which inspired many thousands of people to travel more. Not just to the three destinations within the book (Italy, India and Indonesia) but to many others too, and this is a wonderful thing. We love this book because it celebrates the things we enjoy most – travelling, eating and love!
2) February is the month of love, and because like love, holidays give you that warm, fuzzy feeling – we want to spread the love! Our festival pays homage to the book’s philosophy, and celebrates all things travel. We have tweaked our words slightly, because we want our festival to be all about great food, great places and love! All these things go hand-in-hand with splendiferous holidays, fun times and wonderful memories!
Eat
You have to admit, food plays a big part in your holiday. From our experience, when people talk about their holidays, whether relaying memories or expressing what they are looking forward to, it very often includes food, eating and drinking! Freshly caught seafood in the Med, hot clay-oven baked pizzas from Italy, warm roadside pretzels from NYC or fragrant curries from Asia – Mm-mm!
The ‘Eat’ in #EatStayLove is very important!
Stay
For the stay part we aren’t purely talking accommodation, as in hotels or villas (although they are included). We are also talking about the locations you fall in love with. Cities, countries, resorts, beaches or little secrets that only you know about. Roof-top pools, country cottages, boutique hotel rooms or beach-side huts; all of them matter! Think about all the places you have stayed – or want to stay.
We celebrate them all, because it’s the ‘stay’ part of #EatStayLove that is the very essence of the holiday!
Love
This is the trickiest to define, which is fine, as love itself can be tricky! Our festival isn’t just about celebrating love in the obvious sense, between two people – although that is totally included – as love is great! But we also want to celebrate well-being, and happiness and other types of love – Loving yourself! Loving a place! Loving an experience! Loving a feeling! And really loving your family! As well as good ol’ fashioned love, butterflies in your tummy, new and old relationships, or even ones that are just starting a new chapter!
The ‘love’ of #EatStayLove is epic!
NB: Our festival of #EstStayLove is not in association with or endorsed by Eat Pray Love the book, its author, or Eat Pray Love the film.
