When it comes to family holidays, Spain is a sure thing. With so many islands and resorts to choose from I have no doubt that you’ll find somewhere that suits your holiday needs. Of course it’s not just the resort that needs to cater for your family; you also need a good hotel. A good family hotel should have family friendly entertainment, food and safety to ensure you have the best possible time. I’ve taken a look through the Travel Republic site and picked out 4 hotels which stand out as top for family fun.
Sol Katmandu Park and Resort, Majorca
This has to be one of the most exciting new developments in Spain for family hotels. The Sol Katmandu Park can be found in Magaluf in Majorca and is now part of the Katmandu theme park. The hotel was originally opened last year, but has undergone a radical renovation to create an even better experience. All stays at the Sol Katmandu provide a free ‘Play Pass’ which gives unlimited free access to the Katmandu theme park and it’s rides, from 10am up to 6pm. New this year is the Splash Park (a water play park), climbing adventure and the Phoenix Zipline (zip wire across the resort). There is plenty of entertainment available within the hotel for both children and adults. This hotel is fun filled and friendly, with buckets of entertainment, well worth checking out.
Sol Milanos Pinguinos , Menorca
This hotel can be found in the beach resort of Son Bou and is ideal for a peaceful and relaxed break in the sun. The hotel is literally a few footsteps from the beach, which is monitored by lifeguards to ensure safety. For the kids there are several Flintstone themed kids clubs, which are open from 1st June-15th September. Continuing with the Flintstones theme is the Rocaventura adventure park, which has a high wire and climbing wall. You’ll find plenty of restaurants and shops close by to the hotel and the area itself is a recognised nature reserve, so lots of beautiful natural landscapes to explore. This hotel is perfect if you’re looking for a relaxed holiday in beautiful beach surroundings.
Sol Pelicanos- Ocas Hotel, Costa Blanca
One of our most famous hotels, the Sol Pelicanos is not only part of the set of the Benidorm TV series, it happens to be one of our most popular hotels on the site! The hotel is well equipped for children with the Bam Bam Children’s club running from 15th June-15th September, 2 kid’s swimming pools and an adventure play park. The Sol Pelicanos likes to go all out on the evening entertainment with musicals and live music every night during peak season (watch out for The Lion King). The hotel has a massive 5 swimming pools, 3 of which have whirpools, but if you do fancy a change then the famous Levante Beach is only 300m away. This hotel is great for those looking for a family holiday with plenty to do in a bustling and fun resort.
Sol Principe, Torremolinos
Located right on the front of Playamar Beach in the fun resort of Torremolinos, the Sol Principe is a great all round hotel, catering for all ages. One of the most striking features of the hotel has to be the huge Caribbean style lagoon pool. Having recently undergone a refurbishment, all 799 rooms are finished to a high standard. In terms of entertainment there is plenty, with the Flintstones play areas, sports activities and regular shows and clubs. There really is so much to do, zipwire, rock climbing, mini golf, you can even take a family cookery course! Torremolinos is a perfect family resort which has a peaceful atmosphere whilst still having plenty to do.
Sol Antillas Barbados, Majorca
This beach front hotel is perfectly suited for families with a huge range of facilities to keep everyone entertained. The hotel has a massive 5 pools, which consist of, 2 lake style outdoor pools, 2 children’s pools, 1 sports pool and an indoor heated pool, so no need to worry about overcrowding! If you’re interested there’s plenty of entertainment in both the day and night with parties, workshops, exercise classes, musicals and live music. For the little ones there is the Flintstones club which caters for ages 8 months and up as well as a play theme area which has its own zip wire, rock climbing, trampolines and rope bridge. The hotel is placed right on the beach front of Magaluf beach yet is a distance away from the strip, meaning it has a friendly and quiet atmosphere. I’d recommend exploring the local area by bicycle (you can hire bikes at the Sol Antillas Barbados), particularly if you have older children. The cycle routes in this part of Majorca are fantastic and the beautiful blue coast is a great backdrop for a cycling journey.
