I’m sorry, I can’t ignore the fact that tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. Love it or hate it, it’s happening. Some of you may be heading out on a romantic break for the weekend and some of you may even be popping the big question too. With that in mind I thought I’d do a little research and source out some of the more extreme proposal packages on offer around the world.
The Langham Huntington Hotel, California
If you want to really go big and happen to have a spare $100,000 (approx. £65k), then this hotel’s ‘Proposal of the Century’ package could be the one. The package includes exclusive use of the Rose Bowl Stadium (a capacity of 15,000), a photographer and videographer to capture the moment, and ‘private’ serenade by a 40 piece Pasadena Symphony Orchestra, a custom designed ring and of course a night’s stay at the hotel. The package is to celebrate the hotel’s 100th anniversary and was apparently inspired by Kayne West’s proposal to Kim Kardashian at San Francisco’s AT&T Park.
The Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas
If you’re in Vegas and you want to pop the question then you can book the Bellagio proposal experience. At a slightly more affordable price of €1,000 (approx. £650) you can hire out the Terrazza Di Sogno for a half hour, from which you can get down on one knee as the famous water fountains go off. You’ll also be given a bag of rose petals, a dozen long stemmed roses, champagne, chocolates and a custom made tote bag. For an additional charge you can have a photographer or videographer to capture the moment.
Discovery Cove, Orlando
It’s hard to muster up the courage to make the move and say the words “will you marry me”, so why not get a dolphin to do the work for you? Yes at Discovery Cove in Orlando you can book a one to one dolphin experience, where a dolphin can deliver your beloved a message on a buoy. Discovery Cove will also provide photographic evidence of the proposal. Prices of the dolphin proposal experience can vary.
Disneyworld Magic Kingdom, Orlando
There is actually a wide range of proposal packages at Disneyworld, which range from a £10 chocolate glass slipper dessert, to a £325 firework boat cruise. For those who want the real life princess experience, you can book a meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table and have an engraved glass slipper presented to you after your meal. You can choose whatever you want to have engraved on the slipper, as it’s yours to keep. The glass slipper engagement will set you back £240, plus your Magic Kingdom tickets.
Mandarin Oriental, Prague
Continuing the princess theme, The Mandarin Oriental have the ‘Key to your Heart Package’. The package includes a special horse-drawn carriage ride across the secret fairy tale spots of Prague. You’ll get to stay in a luxury suite complete with champagne, fruit dipped in chocolate, a private breakfast in your suite and a romantic keepsake. The ‘Key to your Heart Package’ starts from £1,500.
