It’s no surprise producers have picked South Africa’s capital city for the new villa – it’s one of the most romantic destinations in the world. In fact, it was recently named in The Telegraph as the fifth most romantic city on Earth and for the seventh year running, the greatest city on Earth.
If you have already found the love of your life and are looking for a romantic getaway, here’s why you should join the Islanders and visit South Africa with your significant other.

Love isn’t the only thing in the air in Cape Town, there is also a warm sea breeze. The Islanders will be enjoying a pleasant average of 21℃ with highs of 27℃ this month. The weather is beautiful all year round but the best time to visit is from October to April. Hot days and warm evenings will definitely put you in the mood for romance.
With a backdrop as magnificent as this, it’s hard not to fall head over heels in love. The world Heritage Site, Table Mountain, is just the start. There’s also Chapman’s Peak, Silvermine Nature reserve, Signal Hill and Lion’s Head. Of course, this means the views are incredible too. Lion’s Head is situated between Table Mountain and Signal Hill and boasts the most breathtaking views across Camps Bay and out to the ocean. Wake up early and hike up here for sunrise and one of the best views in South Africa will become even more magical. You also won’t want to miss Cape Point and Cape Agulhas – the southernmost tip of Africa for spectacular views.
A sunset stroll on the beach hand in hand, as the sea laps over your feet and the sky changes colour – what could be more romantic? You are spoilt for choice in this coastal city but in particular the beaches surrounding Blouberg, the city and Table mountain provide a magnificent backdrop. Make your way to Dolphin Beach and if you’re lucky you’ll spot the creatures that give this beach its name. It makes you feel weak at the knees just thinking about it, doesn’t it? If you want to feel like you have the beach to yourself then head for one of Cape Town’s more secluded beaches such as Platboom or Diaz Beach – you’ll feel like you are the only two people in the world.
Talking of sunsets, if seeing it wasn’t romantic enough there are some incredibly special ways to experience it in Cape Town. Take a cable car – or hike – to the top of Table Mountain and you can enjoy it from here. Take a bottle of bubbly and you can clink glasses as the stars start to twinkle high above your head and lights start to brighten up the city below.
Hotels and Restaurants
Of course, your romantic break wouldn’t be complete without an idyllic place to stay. You may not be heading for the Love Island villa but there are hotels that you’ll instantly fall for. One of which is the President Hotel you’ll wake up to views of the Atlantic Ocean or Lion’s Head from its luxurious rooms.
You’ll also be looking for restaurants to enjoy a candlelit meal. You’re in for a treat, Conde Nast Traveller named Cape Town the third best food city in the world. One you want to ensure you book a table at is Azure at the Twelve Apostles which is situated on the most scenic route in the city, alongside the Twelve Apostles mountain range and Table Mountain National Park. Not only will you feast on the most delicious, fresh local cuisine, you’ll do so high above the glittering Atlantic Ocean. Make sure you order a bottle of South African wine to wash it all down.
Whether you are here to celebrate your recent nuptials, an anniversary, Valentine’s day or just to spend quality time together, the setting is ideal for romance. Now you just need some romantic activities that will only enhance it. Here are just a few ways you and your loved one can make the most of your trip:
