Meet some of the technology team

At Travel Republic we believe that the environment you work in contributes to the quality of the code you produce. Happy developers write better code, so we do all we can to ensure that the working environment, whilst necessarily focused and professional, is tempered by rather too many cakes and biscuits to be healthy, regular lunches and after work get-togethers, as well as two whole-company events a year. Here's what a few of our technology team have to say about working at Travel Republic:

  • I joined Travel Republic in Spring 2008 having spent a number of years at a software house as a consultant for blue chip FTSE 250 and public sector clients. Straight away I was developing solutions that were appreciated and used in anger-with users wanting more! Seeing my work in use and making a difference was everything I hadn't had for years as a consultant and it made me fall in love with development all over again.

  • I’ve been working here for over 5 years. The company has come a long way in that time, most crucially a couple of miles away from the Kingston dump! No two days are the same here, and when it comes to technical challenges you can guarantee the code that you write will be thoroughly put through its paces by our millions of customers. If you want somewhere that will require you to continually learn and improve, I can thoroughly recommend Travel Republic.

  • I joined Travel Republic back in November 2010, and have not regretted it at all. The company is still growing at an impressive pace, and you are able to get stuck into the system from the start and really feel you’re making a difference to the bottom line. My biggest achievement to date has been globalising the website to launch in Spain in the spring, and now we’re rolling out to Italy too...

Favourite biscuit snack: Jaffa CakesEmily - Team Lead

  • If it can be done in VB then I’ve probably done it. With 15 years experience, from tea boy* to architect, I'm a veteran! I've worked in travel for the past 5 years, four at Travel Republic. These days I support the Direct Contracts team; the work is varied and interesting. I love building PC’s and have discovered my inner David Bailey and Ansel Adams through my DSLR viewfinder. *Alright, I only ever made tea for people I liked!

Favourite biscuit: Butter ShortbreadNathan - Developer

  • For my sins, I was the first employee to be hired by Travel Republic and I've seen the team grow and grow. I now lead the Web Development team which, as you can imagine, can be quite high pressured. In many other environments the constantly changing priorities might get you down but, though we remain focused on the tasks ahead we're also able to have a laugh along the way.

  • Here at Travel Republic there is a constant stream of challenging and exciting projects, so there is no chance of being bored (sometimes I don’t even want to go home!), unlike some of the other companies I have worked in. There is always the chance to learn something new, and the wealth of experience to draw upon here is great. The friendly atmosphere makes this a very enjoyable place to work.

Favourite biscuit: Kit Kat ChunkyDavinder - Developer

  • I started at Travel Republic on a short term contract for the site redesign, but I've now been here over a year and have enjoyed working as part of a development/creative team. We always seem to have something fun and creative to work on, as well as having a good laugh along the way. I have also found this to be a great place to improve my web skills and help push my career further.

Favourite biscuit: Party RingsChris - Graphic Designer

  • I made my first appearance at Travel Republic a few years back and have enjoyed every moment. The team has developed some really great software and every year we continue to push forward with new ideas and technology. I'm cheering from the sidelines and doing my bit to keep this a happy and fun place to work in. Woof!
