About Italy

Art, food, fashion, wine…Many countries claim to be the best in the world but Italy, with its countless cultural masterpieces, show-stopping natural beauty and delicious cuisine is a definite contender for the title.

Travellers heading to Italy have an overwhelming amount of choice, from the Colosseum in Rome and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, to the Grand Canal of Venice and the Uffizi gallery in Florence. It can be difficult to know where exactly to start, and the best advice is to see as many places as you can. Even if you don’t have time to hop from Sicily to the Doge’s Palace in Venice, Italy will leave you wanting more. Italy’s culture is addictive and it will leave you no doubt wanting more. The beautiful country waits with open arms.

Book With Us

We have an absolutely enormous choice of places to stay in Italy, with over 29,000 hotels and apartments to choose from. We’ve got all the main cities covered and plenty of beautiful hotels on the coast, from 5-star palaces in Tuscany to ultra-contemporary rooms in Milan. We can find the best flights to all the major Italian airports and even help arrange transfers or car hire if that’s what you need.

When To Go

The summer, particularly August, can be very busy and very hot. A much better time to visit Italy is either in the late spring or the early autumn. During these periods the weather is a lot less muggy, the rural areas are teeming with colours, and there are far fewer crowds to fight against. During the winter a lot of attractions close, although this is less likely if you’re staying in the city, but it’s always best to check before you book if there’s something you’re desperate to see.

Sightseeing and must-sees

  • Admire the view at Lake Como, Lombardy
The natural beauty of Lake Como has made it a destination for everyone from Italian aristocrats to Hollywood celebrities. The lakeside villas have incredible views and you can travel from shore to shore by ferry.
  • Catch a gondola ride along The Grand Canal, Venice
The canals are everywhere you go in Venice, and the Grand Canal is the backbone of this floating city. The buildings on either side of the canal are best appreciated from a gondola as you steer along the waters.
  • Look at the masterpieces in the Uffizi, Florence
Italy is synonymous with great art, and it’s here that you’ll find masterpieces from great renaissance artists such as Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Titian.
  • Take a photo with the Leaning Tower, Pisa
We’ve all seen the pose. Hands raised, pretending to prop up the tower. While the photos are almost an obligation, you should also take the time to explore the rest of this beautiful cathedral city.
  • Visit the Colosseum, Rome
The remains of what was the largest amphitheatre in ancient Rome are an impressive sight to behold. Learning about both the history and the architecture of the Colosseum is fascinating, as is walking through the interior area.
