About Crete

The largest of the Greek islands, Crete feels more like an independent country! The island is in fact the 5th biggest island in the Mediterranean meaning there is plenty for you to explore.

The landscape is diverse and beautiful, with striking mountains overlooking the tranquil waters of the Mediterranean sea. For all you history buffs, you can explore the ruins of the Minoan palace of Knossos as well as old mosques and the cave that is claimed to be the birthplace of the mighty Zeus. The mountain villages, with shepherds in traditional dress tending to their flocks, highlight the continued culture and customs of the island. Of course Crete also caters for the young and the resort of Malia is famous for its party scene.

A hugely popular holiday destination, playing host to nearly a quarter of Greece’s tourists, the size of the island means you can still find your own private space in this fascinating paradise.
