About Mykonos

One of the most elegant of the Greek islands, Mykonos is famed for its beauty and energy. Sun-kissed, secluded beaches and upmarket bars make this an ideal summer holiday destination. Popular with many celebrities you’ll find many boutique hotels with infinity pools overlooking the coast.

For those wanting to explore the deep blue sea, Mykonos is one of the only Greek islands where you can go scuba diving, with a wealth of marine life and coral reefs for you to discover. One of the best ways to see the island is by bike, with several tours running to guide you around the historical sites.

When the sun goes down the laidback vibe changes to something far more upbeat, with fabulous food and entertainment all over the island. For those wanting to continue into the early hours, the party doesn’t stop until the sun comes up, the world famous Cavo Paradiso being one of the best clubs in Europe.

Sightseeing and must-sees

  • Archaeological Museum of Mykonos, Mykonos Town
A great way of adding some variety to your stay, this superb museum was built in 1902 and holds artifacts that date back to around 400 BC. The Aegean Maritime Museum is also nearby and is a very interesting and informative experience.
  • Go snorkeling/diving, Paranga Beach
Organised scuba diving tours go from several places on the island but if you just want to snorkel then Paranga Beach in the south is the best place to explore the underwater world.
  • Spend the day on Elia Beach, Elia
One of the most popular beaches on the islands and also the longest, you can find your own space in the pristine sand to lie back and relax. Cool off in the beautiful water before enjoying some dinner at one of the great restaurants.
  • Walk to the Armenistis Lighthouse, Mykonos Town
The roads up to the lighthouse are quite run down so although it’s not a short walk, it is worth going on foot. At the end you are rewarded by stunning views and a charming lighthouse to admire.
