Not 5 star in any way imaginable. Complex a 3/4 star at best in the newer parts. rooms 2 star max. . passed tired this hotel is in dire need of an update they are refurbing part of the hotel but that just means you have a building site next to the pool. some concrete so worn you can see the metal supports in the path ways. only one useable pool which is heated. the children's pool with the slide. so no peaceful place for adults to sit.. the other two so cold can not be used one closed all together, plastic dirty sun loungers that you would normally find in a two star bed and breakfast. rooms are poorly fitted with old Formica furniture. mouldy bathrooms with stained baths. Television set from the 70s. The old cane sofa was held together with large 6 inch nails that came apart every time you sat on it. no free Wi-fi, No bathrobes or slippers.no tea or coffee making facilities no welcome drink, Only water in minibar no soft drinks. peeling paint everywhere, broken concrete paths everywhere. some metal railings on stairs missing. benches broken with nails sticking out.
Staff amazing you can only feel sorry for them trying to apologise for all that problems. Hotel made a real effort for Christmas and new years Gala , both were great and much appreciated. but they can not make up for disappointment of finding what you thought was going to be a luxury 5 star break was more like a cheap bed and breakfast in the 80s at Blackpool..
approx.90% of guest Russian. who brought their own vodka , whisky and beer to breakfast. this was not stopped by anyone. Really not what you would expect in a 5 Star. They spent their days in a drunken state, they would sit in reception drinking their own bottles all day and night making the place look like some hostel for alcoholics rather than a hotel reception area. Again the staff ignored this and in fact sold them bottles to have there.
Eat in the Italian. the staff their are amazing and really cant do enough for you. if you want some peace sit round pool 4, you cant get in the water or use the Jacuzzi because its too cold but the bar staff are great. I am not a drinker really and they seemed amazed and pleased to talk to someone who was not drunk all day. Think not many of us drank tea. if you drink anything other than builders tea bring your own teabags because the restaurant has no green or camomile only builders tea and coffee. the pool bar do have a few herb teas but by no means a selection.
the beach is on a reef. so if you do have a child that is not a strong swimmer they will need swimming aids. you can only use the first meter or so of water then its the reef so you need to walk out to sea on the jetty. great snorkelling but only for swimmers

The hotel has changed ownership and we were informed by the management that they were going to make several changes, as the hotel is in need of refurbishment and they will be making various changes to bring the hotel up to the high standard that they think is required.
The staff in the Island View Hotel are the best we have ever met and we have been fortunate to have visited several places in the mediteranian, Thailand and the Caribean.
“ Top Tip: The entertainment in Soho Square (outdoor and free) the dancers, fire eaters, singers, musical fountain the are great.

“ We have stayed at this hotel before and found the staff there excellent, as they were this time. Without exception they were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is being renovated but it does not interfere with any guests. The Italian Restaurant is highly recommended, the food and the service there is top class. Soho Square is just about 100 yards past the hotel and has superb shops, entertainment and with a light show on the fountains every hour which last about 15 minutes. Ali the Lifeguard at pool no.1. was excellent and kept the pool pristine. Shellie at Guest Relataions is very helpful also Vicky from the Animation Team. We will be going back there again next year.
“ Top Tip: Plenty of reef to snorkle at this hotel, the fish are fabulous. Soho Square just along the road from the hotel. Victoria bar in the hotel was very good. Also the bar at pool No.1.

“ I would not class this hotel as a 4*. Food was very poor and not much variety. Rooms need updating. Only good thing about this hotel was pool 4, which over looked the beach/sea. Would not go back to his hotel

“ Top Tip: Nice coral reef with plenty of beautiful fish. Soho aquare with its restaurants and pubs, but some are expensive.
