The hotel was absolutely fabulous from the word go! Me and my girlfriend stayed all inclusive in the Golden Beach Hotel for a week. We walked into the lobby and it was cool, spacious, bright and clean. Check in was quick and simple so we were quickly into our room, which was quite big and had a TV, balcony, nice shower and a very good air con. The first impression of the room was that it was spotlessly clean. There were, however, quite a lot of unavoidable stairs on route to the room. Dinner that night was tasty with lots of food on offer, same as it was every night. Also, the staff in the dining room were extremely polite and helpful, and really made our stay more enjoyable. It was pointed out to me though, that a vegetarian might have struggled a bit to vary their meals. The food was good, but the starters were a little bit repetitive, so a weeks stay was perfect, but after a longer stay the food may get a bit boring. We never tried the beachfront restaurant of the hotel, which was also open to the public, but then we never felt we needed to. The rooftop pool was very nice and caught lots of sun. However, there weren't that many sun beds, so during busy times you may not get a lounger. Also, there aren't many umbrellas, so those who want shade may need an early start at the pool! The beach nearby (literally about 10m away from the hotel side door) was brilliant - the sand was soft and warm and the sea lovely to swim in. There were lots of sun beds here too, although in the very middle of the day we found them all occupied. The bar staff were very pleasant and the drinks and cocktails were always good, so no complaints there! The pool size, poolside setting, room size and food really do make this hotel better for couples than families I think. All in all I couldn't really fault the hotel apart from very minor, not-very-important things, so I would certainly recommend this hotel to any couple.
Top Tip: The Veranda restaurant (about 5 minutes walk along the beachfront) has a Greek night with live traditional music and dancing looks like very good fun and also serves good food, with large portions at a reasonable price if anyone ever fancied a night off from the hotel dinner.
I would also absolutely recommend a trip to the Knossos palace and Heraklion Archaeological museum - they were both utterly fascinating! And the best excursion deal we found was from right across the road from the hotel (and not the deal the hotel offered us).

This hotel is immaculately clean and the rooms are excellent. The staff are most welcoming, friendly and polite at all times and very helpful. The restaurant also provides a high standard of quality foods that are always fresh and enjoyable. The location is also very good as near to the beach and to the local shops and bars. The only downside is that the pool is small and the sun loungers although the most comfortable... not enough for a hotel that has over 500 rooms, saying that my mum and I did manage to get a couple most days but were disappointed when they were all in use.
Top Tip: As we were only staying for one week ,we tended to stay in our lovely hotel.

Just arrived home from Golden Beach Hotel. My friends and I enjoyed it very much. it is near the beach and hs a swimming pool on the roof, rather deep for children. The food was good and varied. Room very clean and well maintained, could have done with more cupboard/draw space. disappointed no entertainment but plenty going on in the town..
Very helpful receptionist named Mary and great cocktails at the bar.
Top Tip: Several resturants were good, great cocktails and ice cream

We found the hotel very pleasing. Beds very comfortable and food good. Swimming pool very small, but of course only a small hotel and not a lot of space. Staff exceptionally nice. We were extremely disappointed when we were told we had to move to another hotel four days before we were due to leave and were shipped off to the Golden Star Hotel at Analipsi. This hotel catered for mainly French and their families. As you know we originally booked last April to stay at the Mareblue Hotel but were told by phone that this hotel was closing down for the winter, only a few days before we were due to go to Crete. We were however extremely satisfied with the Golden Beach Hotel and would very much like to return there next year. We weren't satisfied that we had to move and in a way, it spoilt our holiday.
Top Tip: We liked the shops in Hersonissis close to the hotel and it was somewhere to walk around after dinner. The beach of course is close by as are the bus services. A beach in particular that we liked was close to Hersonissis Harbour where, when we paid for our sunbeds we were treated (free) to raki, grapes, nuts and nibbles, all free of charge. The young lad whom we paid was extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us.

The hotel was very very clean. The staff was exellent.Hotel rooms are very small as are the bathrooms and balconies, The food was always cold.
Top Tip: Hotel near all the shops and restaurants. The palm beach club was great for sun bathing about 10 minutes walk .Great pools with good sun beds, open to all for a small fee of 3 eures .The train which takes 2 hours all around the resort was great fun.
