Keeping the name of the ancient town/hamlet which flourished there at the end of the 5th century BC, Iallisos is the perfect starting point for a tour around the island. Characteristic of this region are the beautiful neoclassical houses with palm trees in the central avenue. The region is of important archaeological interest as it has been inhabited since prehistoric times.

In Trianta village the remains of a Minoic settlement have been discovered. The ancient town of Iallisos, one of the 3 biggest ancient towns in the island, extends around Filerimos hill, where the acropolis with its monuments from the archaic, Byzantine and knightly periods can be found. Iallisos beach is distinguished by its natural beauty, the clarity of its waters, as well as the cosmopolitan living and the options offered to visitors there. Restaurants and bars can be found in the immediate vicinity. The standard room features double beds, air conditioning, bathroom with bathtub, hairdryer, direct dial telephone, satellite TV, hairdryer, safe, kitchen with fridge and cooker, desk, dial-up Internet access, air conditioning, heating, a balcony and a view of the sea and the mountains. The hotel offers a unique blend of relaxation and sporting activities including a modern windsurfing station, water skiing, jet skiing, diving, and surfing (all subject to fees). We were diverted to this hotel from the nearby Blue Bay Resort and whilst the room we had after the first night (yes, even after having the hotel changed, that happened to us) was good regrettably the Forum Beach on a whole was poor.

The food was poor, not a great choice and the quality, particularly of the meat available, was not good at all.

We also experienced power cuts, although 2 of which we're planned, there were many more that weren't and they came as a surprise, including stopping the shower working. The water went off for a while altogether when a leak onto our corridor floor (which made the floor dangerously slippery) was supposedly being repaired. We did not see any notice about this at all.
Top Tip: The Blue Bay hotel facilities were made available to us, as we had booked that hotel originally on an all in basis and found the facilities there to be those expected of a 4 star hotel

Best for families rather than couples or lone travellers. If you have a room in the newly refurbished rooms you probably feel like you are in a four star hotel but the rooms in the old part of the hotel are tired, dated and in need of updating. The pools were lovely and kept very clean. The food was what you would expect for AI and the drinks were free flowing. The staff worked very hard but there were often long queues for food, drinks, glasses etc. The resort is also a little tired but for those people wanting a quieter holiday this would be ideal.

No evening entertainment for families with children, so used local facillities of the evenings for entertainment which there are some fab bars locally. The stone baked pizza facililities were amazing, and ran 6 days a week
Top Tip: The Yorkshire karaoke bar serves brill food and wicked entertainment. And Alkionis sports bar is brill to and has lovely friendly staff.
