  • Although the area was not great, and certainly not the prettiest in Rhodes, if you are using as a base this is a great place in my opinion. There was no view, but a good safe balcony even though ground floor if you have kids.

Although the area was not great, and certainly not the prettiest in Rhodes, if you are using as a base this is a great place in my opinion. There was no view, but a good safe balcony even though ground floor if you have kids. The apartment was spacious, and cool and bright, being a family room(508), it had a separate bedroom and was divided by high wardrobes with a total of 6 beds.We also had aircon free in the main room where the kids slept, and we had the maids round every day, with fresh towels and clean bedding. The pool areas are lovely, the food in the taverna really good and reasonable, you could get the food to take away which was a real bonus for us as it was easier with 3 young children. The staff were great, very accommodating and pleasant. We did look at a room with a huge balcony(in the 300's), but the room was not as modern and was a bit dated in comparison, so although a better view, not a better room. The pool area was great, we always stayed around the back pool as the sun was there longer and the small pool was great for my 2 year old, and non slip!!!.All in all we were impressed with the Kassandra, for the price it was excellent, and would definately stay again if we were using as a base, but we prefer the Lindos area which is only 45 mins away if you don't mind the drive.

Top Tip: Do try the food in the taverna, and the wine 5 euro a caraffe is a bargain, for those of you self catering, there is a carrefour across the road which is ok, but for lovely fresh cheap rolls and cakes the bakery ( TURN LEFT OUT OF APTS)and a 10 minute walk.We also found a better supermarket not far past the bakery, but really you need a car, bigger range, some things cheaper and even fresh hot food counter. And do go to Lindos, it's gem of the island and the swimming is great for kids.

Very good value. Rooms cleaned daily, towels changed daily, sheets midweek. All staff friendly, helpful and professional. Usually plenty of hot water, Lift fully functional. No problems at all.

Top Tip: Look out for Platon Taverna in Ialysos Main Street which leads down to the beach. The food is very good and the prices reasonable. Fiery Blaze Cafe in the same street is nice for a snack/drink. Book your trips with Holiday Essentials, again in the main street; great trips and very reliable. All the people in the above named places are pleasant, friendly and professional.

We booked a 2 bed apartment but when we arrived we had been allocated a 1 bed one. There was no problem getting it changed, though it was in the reception block & overlooked buildings rather than the pool. The apartments are fairly basic, the stove is a plug in two ring camping stove, but they provided a kettle so no boiling water on the hotplate! We used the 2nd pool, set in the gardens & seemed to keep the sun longer. The pool looked a bit cloudy some days but it didn't stop me using it! There was a bit of a pong from the drains/toilets built at the bottom of the garden. Food was a bit hit/miss from the on site Taverna. Didn't eat there a great deal but omelettes great, perka (fish) great, chicken souvlaki not so great - the texture of the chicken was too soft (although the cats were happy enough with it!). Lots of people we spoke to said their meals were great . The taverna/bar staff were friendly & welcoming. The on-site supermarket was understocked (put down to being end of season) & overpriced, although a lot of the goods weren't priced so you don't know til you get to the till. There is a Carrefour supermarket across the road - better prices but the road was often very busy. We expected the beach to be shingle but it was quite pebbly & we needed sport shoes to get in the water (just as well we had some with us, but available in the tourist shops). The beach is 5-10 min walk away. The closest nightlife approx 15 mins away, half of which is along the main road.
All in all, I enjoyed my stay at the Kassandra & it was value for money. Stayed for 2 weeks end Sept & into Oct.

There is a kids room for them to play in. There is entertainment on in the hotel on certain night which is fabulous. So much stuff round about the do and see. I would most certainly go again next year to same hotel.
