  • The only down side was the food. It was nearly always the same but cold, the bacon every day was under cooked. Apart from that they were very helpful as I was in a wheel chair.

  • Blue Bay beach hotel is ok overall with good points and bad points. This is our second trip as we went same time last year 03/06/13-17/06/13 so we know the hotel and surrounding areas really well. The hotel is on the outskirts of Kremasti even though it says Ialyssos Beach .

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. They use every trick in the book to extort additional monies from you; no wifi unless you pay extra, no all inclusive bar within the hotel building (you have to pay in the only bar inside the hotel); you have to queue up at a window by the pool to get an all inclusive drink; deposit for safety deposit box is non refundable, they even charge you 5Euro's to book a taxi.

Top Tip: Nothing around the hotel unless you get a taxi or walk 15 minutes for the bus

Blue Bay beach hotel is ok overall with good points and bad points. This is our second trip as we went same time last year 03/06/13-17/06/13 so we know the hotel and surrounding areas really well.

The hotel is on the outskirts of Kremasti even though it says Ialyssos Beach . Its 25 min walk to Ialyssos and about 15 min walk to Kremasti. There's a few local bars a short walk - Bar Ideal was always busy with karioke etc
A taxi for 4 is 14 euros from the airport and the same into Rhodes old town.
A taxi from the hotel to Ialyssos is 5 euro.

The hotel sleeps around 600 people but shares its facilities with two other sister hotels , The Sunland and Matoula as well as other little bungalow style apartments so in busy times ie peak season and school holidays there aren't enough basic facilities for all the guests for example queue's for coffee cups, glasses for juice at meal times especially as there's only 3 coffee machines and 2 toasters for everyone. The meal times are a bit of a scramble but the food was always good.

The staff however are fantastic , they work very hard under difficult conditions.
The animation team are brilliant, but special mentions have to go the Dex and Billy. They really make your holiday!
Don't miss the Greek night which features Greek dancing , BBQ and show, its an extra 18 euro's per person (our 3 kids went free!) it was excellent.!
The water park opens at 10am-6pm and is free . Its closed Weds.
Overall its value for money as long as your expectations aren't too high.

Top Tip: 1. Greek night- don't miss it!
    2. Tommies bar in Kremasti..good english pub about 15 mins walk from hotel. Beer & burger for 4.50 euro's.
    3. Pegasus Grill bar- 50m from hotel warm welcome and excellent food if you get tired of the hotel.
    4. Rhodes town itself -beautiful!!

Wonderful!!. Stayed here for 10 nights from 27th May, in a party of 4 adults and 3 children. On arrival the reception staff were polite and helpful, we were in family rooms 135 and 131, which overlooked the pool and had a beautiful seaview. Rooms were cleaned everyday, apart from Sunday to a high standard, clean towels were also provided everyday.
The all inclusive consists of breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Drinks till 11pm, which was stated on the travel republic site. After 11pm there was a cocktail bar in the hotel which you have to pay for. Just stock up just before 11pm!!! Ice cream from 10 till 6, kids were on about 10 a day!! Snacks and afternoon tea were also provided. The food was very nice. Loads to choose from, soup was delicious in particular, the only problem with the food was what to have, due to the amount of choice!!! Always got a large table for the 7 of us. Restaurant staff very helpful, they work really hard.
Its 4 km from the airport, the planes went about 300ft above the hotel an their descent. It was an added bonus to us as we all loved them. Just one problem, when your sunbathing, you cant help open your eyes to look at them, very distracting!!!
On to the animation.....Absolutely fantastic!!! Dex, Billy, Basia, Jenna...kept us entertained all day by the pool. Darts, water polo, aerobics, pool quizzes, silly games in the daytime. Then at night they put on shows 6 times a week. 2 of our party, joined in the show twice and had to dress up as ladies a couple of times for the sake of entertainment!!! If your reading this Billy and Dex, its the 2 Peter pans, Julie pan and Rose!!!! We loved it!!!
The water park is just over a quiet road at the back of the hotel. It had 5 slides, one which has 4 lanes, which we were allowed in 6 times a week, its closed on Wednesday. This was one of the deciding factors for me to book this hotel as we had 3 kids with us who absolutely loved it!!!
We hired a car from the hotel one day for 20 euros. We went to Lindos for the day which was lovely.
We also hired a couple of quad bikes for the day, which was brilliant. We went to Falaraki for a couple of hours...very quiet in the daytime! and Kalithea Bay where we went snorkelling. This was the most beautiful place on the island in my opinion.
The hotel is about 2km to the nearest town, but there are a handful of bars, shops and restaurants in the vicinity. There is a bus service on the main road which takes you to Rhodes town, you have to get your tickets from the hotel shop as they do not accept cash on the bus. This I believe is a recent thing.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. We paid £1000 for 4 adults and 3 children, 2 family rooms, for 10 nights all inclusive. You cant get much better than that, can you?????

Top Tip: The all inclusive stops at 11pm, so if you fancy a late night drink, get stocked up on the freebies!!!!
