About Austria

Relatively small when compared to its neighbours Germany and Italy, Austria is famous for its breath-taking mountain vistas and its world-beating skiing. Hotels in Austria are never boring, often benefiting greatly from both the views and the wide selection of winter sports. The nation, in various forms, dates back many years although it has only existed in its current political state since 1955. Its history is one of empire and war, but its present is truly tranquil. Enjoy cool sunny summers in the hills and mountains of the Alps, visit its enduringly beautiful capital Vienna. Or, wait until winter and see some of the world's premier ski resorts.

Book With Us

Fly into any of Austria's major airports with a number of our best carriers and we'll guarantee you the best price going. Choose to stay in wonderful Vienna in midsummer, or high in the Alps for the winter sports. Wherever you decide on, you can choose from over 6,000 resorts and hotels throughout the country right here at Travel Republic.

When To Go

Winters in Austria are cold affairs, where -10 degrees is seen quite regularly. However if you are heading to the country to ski then this is perfect for you. Summers are warm and pleasant and show the mountains off at their best. Expect midsummer average temperatures to be around the 25 degrees – warm enough for a dip in a crystal clear lake.

Where to Stay

A midsummer break in Vienna, between June and August, with a hotel next to the Danube River, will allow you to explore the beautiful city and its verdant surrounds. During the same period the weather in the mountains will be slightly cooler, though still very pleasant and lakes will beckon for both boating and swimming. The winter holds entirely different promise where visitors seek powder snow and après-ski.
