About Rome, Italy

For lovers of history, culture and fine food, life would simply be incomplete without a visit to Rome. The cradle of western civilization and the peak of the renaissance, Rome is a city so rich in its historical and cultural lineage that it’s difficult to sum up in just a few words. Over its 2,500-year history, Rome has given us the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, the Pantheon and St Peter's Basilica. Less fixed in bricks and mortar are the gifts of fantastic cuisine and fine wine. Speak to anyone who lives in the city and they’ll say the way to experience Rome is not only through its monuments but through its restaurants, its piazzas and its bars.

Whether you’re looking to tour imperial Rome or sneak away with your partner to the Trevi Fountain, Rome is an endlessly generous city to its visitors, who often decide to come back time after time.

When To Go

Rome can be exceptionally hot in the peak summer months, with the late July and August period often reaching suffocating temperatures. Late spring and early autumn are ideal if you’re looking for cooler climes in which to experience the cities many attractions.

Where to Stay

Rome is pretty easy to get around, however if you’re looking for somewhere close to most of the action then the areas around Piazza Navona, Campo de Fiori or the Pantheon are very central. Locations close to the Vatican are quieter at night, perfect for families, while the Termini Station, just to the south of the ancient city centre, is also great in terms of connections.
