This is a large hotel, well-positioned overlooking the bay at Marsalforn. The main entrance is obscured by tent like canvas extensions along the front of the hotel, housing various restaurants, offering a range of eating options. Hotel check in was efficient. Our room was just next to the lifts, which was very convenient as we were on the third floor. The room was lovely and spacious, looking across the bay, and hills, with a small balcony, with plastic seats, ideal for watching the sun setting on the hills. The room and ensuite bath room was very clean and well serviced during our stay. The bathroom would benefit from a little cosmetic updating. The shower curtain over the bath did not stop water getting all over the bathroom floor, when the shower was in use. The bed was king size with comfortable mattresses. However, the bedding consisted of sheets and two single sized fitted counterpanes (one for each person) folded to fit the bed. It was an odd arrangement and too warm. A sheet and correct sized light weight blanket would have worked better. This was November. We stayed 3 nights and whilst we did not eat lunch or dinner in any of the hotels restaurants - they felt rather big and lacking a sense of intimacy that we were looking for, - the breakfast self service buffet served in the Perle Restaurant we really looked forward to. What a spread! The variety of fruits, cereals, breads, cold meats and cheeses, hot cooked bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, omelettes cooked in front of you made to order, tea, coffee, fruit juice. It was excellent and the staff were very helpful and attentive.
Top Tip: On our first evening looking round Marsalforn for somewhere to eat, we discovered La Trattoria, a lovely, small, family run restaurant, a three minute walk from the Calypso Hotel. The menu was varied but not extensive and the attention to detail to everything from the service to the presentation of food was excellent. The restaurant and toilets were very clean. The tables had linen and were beautifully laid and there was a lovely cosy atmosphere. We returned every evening we stayed in Marsalform and tried different dishes and could not fault any of them. They were all totally delicious as were the wines and great value. The bill was very reasonable and we would whole heartedly recommend it. NB It opens April - early November and serves dinner in the evening only. It is closed at lunch time.

Very clean, close to the small local beach and numerous restaurants.
Breakfast adequate but nothing spectacular.
Rooftop pool with bar for those who do not like to use a public beach - Nothing amazing but you can have a dip, lounge around and have a drink.

Sheets and throws not big enough for the beds. Just about ok to sleep on if you don't mind ruffled bedding but a nightmare for the poor cleaning staff.

VERY clean room. Floors regularly washed.

'Hand held' shower over the bath is very powerful - A pleasant surprise.

Summary: GREAT location. BRILLIANT Sea Views. VERY clean.
Top Tip: Numerous good restaurants - Depends what you like to eat. La Tratoria - Local, authentic with brilliant fresh fish and local cuisine.

Diving - Scuba Kings will go out of their way to take you to the best dive sites. Small groups - Individual attention. Not structured around mass intake and profit margins. Excellent local knowledge and a brilliant bay for those learning to dive - Everything on your doorstep. Highly recommended.

Clean, comfortable and in a great location right by the beach and the small harbour in Marsalforn. We had a very pleasant stay here is a sea view room, which was lovely and would certainly come here again. Slight negatives were the breakfast. A little dull though contrary to other reviewers we have had far worse coffee elsewhere. We had the roof top BBQ one night. Wonderful ambience etc. but spoiled by over fussy and ineffective service. We asked for a bottle of wine from the wine list which made everyone fly in to a panic. 15 minutes later we had finished our starter and were waiting impatiently for its arrival so we could drink it with the main course. Lots of waiters dashed past us deliberately avoiding eye contact. Eventually the bottle of wine appeared (it was a very common local wine, nothing fancy) in a bottle with half the label missing and not quite cold enough. All they needed to say was they hadn't got it and we'd have happily ordered another one without all the drama.
Apart from that it was a great stay. Loved sunbathing on the roof terrace and being so near to the restaurants etc.
Top Tip: The one day cruise around Gozo and to the blue lagoon at Comino on Midas II which is moored in the harbour and can be booked at the office on the harbour side was a highlight for us. Actually the blue lagoon was the leas good bit as it's full of tourists and a bit spoilt but we moored a couple of other time around the island to swim and snorkel and they were fantastic so all in all a good day.

Nice hotel. Nice place. Clean and food nice. The only thing we missed was having tea and coffee facilities in the room .
