This is a fantastic hotel commanding spectacular views over the Gozo Channel. We booked a standard double room but were given a family room with all the normal facilities except tea/coffee making facilities which not normal for the area but would have been handy for our post midnight check-in time. (Good job we took our own!)
The pool looked excellent but in February it was too cold to be used. All areas of the hotel are extremely clean; the prices are very reasonable and the staff are extremely courteous and helpful.

We will not hesitate to stop there again.
Top Tip: Gozo is a lovely island. There are two Hop-on Hop-off sight seeing buses running around the 8 mile by 5 mile island at a cost of 12 Euros per adult. These buses go to the main tourist attractions but not the more remote bays which are accessible by car or walking. The roads on the island covers about 60% by potholes, so drive with caution and be aware that SatNav will send you down roads that are like farm tracks - but are actually signed roads to the next village!

Excellent hotel, very clean, friendly staff. The best part of the stay was the consistently high quality meals and variable menus, the food could easily rival some of the worlds major hotels.
Top Tip: Out of season so all local restaurants were closed but they would have to be exceptional to be better than the hotels food.

We LOVED our first room (414), it was really spacious and at the back of the hotel, so quiet. Unfortunately there seemed to an issue with the hot water which was no more than tepid. We were moved to another room (409) because of the water problem, this room was at the front of hotel where the road is, so noisier, and it was smaller than the previous one. It did however, have a balcony and the view over the harbour was lovely, interesting to watch the trotting horses being exercised in the afternoon in the water.. No hot water problem with this room. Do check the mini bar/fridge, in the second room we found a bottle was missing, reported this to reception and later were sent a note asking us to pay for it, which we didn't have to as we had already notified reception that it was a bottle short. We were there on a bed and breakfast basis and the buffet style breakfast was more than adequate, though the cooked breakfast wasn't very warm. The staff were friendly in the restaurant, housekeeping and on reception. We used the hotel bus one day to go to Victoria (Rabat), I think it goes 3 times per week. There were only 4 of us on it that day but I would imagine in summer time that it will be more in demand and is only a little bus. We would definitely come back to the Grand Hotel, it was very clean and met our requirements.
Top Tip: We had two fantastic meals in the Country Terrace restaurant which is only a 5 minute walk from the Grand Hotel. We also ate twice in the local Chinese which was okay. And we got a burger and hotdog from the Australian/Maltese man with his van, only 50 yards from the hotel, both of which were delicious. We did the Gozo coastal walk from Mgarr to Xliendi (though we stopped is Sannat)got lost a couple of times as the map was a bit basic, however, the views were fantastic ~ wouldn't have liked to have done it in really hot weather. Went to Victoria (Rabat) a few times and you should be aware that there is a siesta time in the afternoon, so if you want to shop be there before lunchtime. 1.50 Euro will buy an all day bus ticket, we had a hire car but ended up travelling the length and breadth of the island on public transport. Those bus drivers deserve a medal driving on the rough roads and narrow streets! We also did a tour of the island on the red open topped tour bus which has a commentary through earphones, it was very worthwhile and we went back to some of the places we passed through on this tour.
