Visited hotel Alvor Baia 18th Oct -25th Oct 014, couple aged 55.
The hotel was modern, comfortable, clean and welcoming. The rooms are large, beds comfortable, but you may need extra pillows, balconies are large as are the bathrooms. No kettle or complementary tea bags milk etc but there is a large domestic fridge and a two ring hob along with a microwave but no crockery or cutlery and just one small pan, but as this is an AI hotel it wasn't expected or needed.
Staff were friendly, courteous and efficient.
Entertainment on a par to all other AI hotels across Europe.
Food was very good and lots of choice, apart from the soups. A picky detail. Some complaints have been that the food is not hot enough but we have found that this is the case all over Europe whether you are AI or in a top notch restaurant, it seems we Brits are the only ones who want our food piping hot, but there are microwaves in the restaurant.
The hotel location is just right, either a 15 walk to Alvor and beach or take the excellent hotel coach service which drops off at the beach or Alvor town free of charge.
You may want to take a taxi back if out late as it is up hill on the way back 4e in a BMW
Top Tip: When the hotel coach drops you at the beach turn right onto the blue sunbeds where you will get a free drink with your 10e for 2 sunbeds, sun shade and wind breaker. only 7e after 1pm
Stay for the sunset. Beach bars do good snacks.
Request a pool view or you will overlook the hospital and road which is quiet but not as scenic.
Water taxi to Lagos.

Extremely clean hotel - very nice toddlers pool and huge swimming pool. The food was great with plenty of choice. The cooked breakfast could have been warmer but I just stuck it in the microwave. There is a regular bus to the beach from the hotel. The children loved the mini disco and Kids Club. The animation team were not very good and could have done a lot better and the evening entertainment was not too bad.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Large, modern hotel. A bit impersonal but does what it does very well. Plentiful supply of decent quality hotel food and copes with high season very well with very little queuing for food and drinks. Been twice now and this year's new addition of a poolside bar is a plus. About 10-15 minute walk into Alvor and quite a way from the beach but there in a regular bus service laid on by the hotel.
Top Tip: Restaurant D'Alvina near the front in Alvor. Looks a bit basic but the food is good.

Loved the Hotel modern and very clean. Food very good, always lots of choice. Restaurant not up to 4 star standard, too much like a canteen. As there were two restaurants, our suggestion would be to have one more formal and keep one as it is. Pool area always very clean, but usual issues with sunbeds and umbrellas.
Top Tip: Our tip would be to buy a cheap umbrella locally and use for the duration of you stay.
