This being the third visit to the Cascade Resort, I am prompted to state that the initial wow factor has certainly faded from the previous occasions, (3 years or more ago).
The up keep of the hotel and grounds is not near the standard required for such a highly rated establishment. Small matters such as scuffs in the bedroom, toilet flush only have working, plaster coming away on the balcony area, and various grounds, barren and in need of repair.
During a 4 night stay, Spa completely closed.
Breakfast was fair, but pretty basic.
It seems the manager or owner is cutting corners, and trying to run a 5 star hotel on a budget, if things continue as is, will not be returning.
Top Tip: Beach is a 10 minute walk, down steep steps. Lagos old town 15 minute walk away, with plenty of character, cafes, bars and restaurants.

We travelled as a couple and stayed in a self-catering apartment. The apartment was beautiful, spacious and nicely decorated with a big terrace area with recliners, table and chairs. By far the nicest accommodation we have stayed in. The hotel staff were excellent and very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast at the hotel every morning (book this in advance, as I believe it is expensive if paid for on a daily basis) and the self-serve buffet was lovely. Just one slight niggle is plates were cold and hot food could have been hotter. The resort does not have a shop onsite, which is not ideal if self-catering and there was no 'starter pack' to see us through the first day. Some tea, coffee, milk etc on arrival in the apartment would have been good. The Reception staff directed us to the nearest shop which was supposed to be a 'ten minute walk' - took us twenty minutes and we are not unfit! The resort do a grocery shop for you but this turned out very expensive for us. Resort also say they are within walking distance of the beach (down very steep steps or a big hill) and Lagos. Lagos in our opinion is not within easy walking distance unless you like power-walking in the heat. The hotel will reimburse you for a taxi into Lagos but do not tell you this - we found out through Trip Advisor reviews. Hiring a car seems to be the best way of getting around if you want to drive - if not, then there is very little near at hand. The on- site restaurant (Moods) is very expensive and a bit 'up-market' for everyday food. Drinks are also very expensive. Little niggles aside, this is a lovely resort, very peaceful and relaxing. Lagos is a lovely town full of nice restaurants, shops and pubs and a beautiful marina.
Top Tip: Marina well worth a visit.
Boat trip round caves/grotto brilliant, but go from Lagos, not hotel.
Sit in the square in Lagos, have a cocktail, and watch the world go by.
