If you want a safe place to sleep at night go somewhere else. When we got there we were put in a 1 bed apartment which we thought was gonna be good seen as we had booked a studio, we were wrong. The apartment is quite spacious and the beds were okay but the patio doors did not lock and neither did the shutters either. This was on the living room patio doors and also the bedroom one. Had to take all of our money and passports everywhere with us for fear of them disappearing out of the room. Did not sleep well despite comfy beds because we were always aware someone could easily get in and after hearing the reports of people being broken into we knew is wasn't unlikely that it could happen. If you want a nice relaxing stay then avoid avoid avoid!!! Will not ever return to this hotel

Stayed at the Vilanova Resort three times now and know what to expect.

It's a basic accommodation Resort but with the price being dirt cheap then not a lot was expected.

Group of 8 mature(ish) guys and we were upgraded to the villas as I think the apartments were all closed down(10th till 17th Feb 2015).

No gripes with the villas apart from maybe the stairs to bedroom would be a bit too steep for some and could be dangerous with a few drinks but apart from that no problems.

Spent most of the time in the Albertus bar which was very accommodating(to the extent of opening early on our last day so we could all get a Breakfast - Cheers Miguel).

Right next to the strip so handy for all the bars and restaurants and only 10-15 mins walk to beach, though steep uphill walk on the way back.

We have stayed at the Vilanova a few times. It is basic self catering, which is exactly what we want. We always book a one bedroom because in the studio the two single beds cannot be pulled together, comfortable but separate. Very clean, towels/t-towels changed daily but nothing else provided so we do a little shop when we get there. No hair dryer and no internet access in apartments. They do have it in Reception but you have to pay for it. We don't find this a problem because all of the bars and restaurants have free access. Even though it is just of The Strip it is peaceful with lovely gardens and pool. We will be returning as soon as we can. Many thanks to staff at the Travel Republic also, for making the booking so easy and painless.
Top Tip: Lovely place to eat is the Invictus Bar along the main road before you get to the beach. Also along the same road is the Sol Caffe, which we also love. Everyone is very friendly, cannot do enough for you. The Albertus Sports Bar on The Strip is one of our favourites, it is lovely with fantastic staff, good music and karaoke every evening. These places are all very reasonable. I would recommend a trip in to the Old Town of Albufeira, it is beautiful. You can get an all day ticket for the little train which does a nice round trip from the strip to the old town for 4 euros each.
