Pestana Palace, one of the best hotels in Lisbon, is a 5 star hotel in a 19th century palace located in a residential area of the city of Lisbon, and its gardens, with a variety of plants and subtropical trees, are classified as "National Monument".

This hotel in Lisbon is located near some of the most important monuments of the city, such as Centro Cultural de Belém, Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and Centro de Congressos (Congress Centre).

It has 193 rooms, 4 of these being royal suites. In the present day, in the Palace building we can find the chapel and the hotel's service areas (porter and reception, salons, bar and the Valle Flôr restaurant), small meeting rooms and the 4 royal suites.

All salons are profusely decorated, with French-inspired details. The private quarters of the Marquises have been turned into beautiful and spacious suites. Here, likewise, works of art decorate the walls, complemented by elegant furniture from antique shops and by luxury sofas.

The view to the Tagus river or to the vast gardens of the Palace can be enjoyed from all royal suites.

My daughter and I absolutely loved staying at the Pestana Palace. It has a delightful feeling of space and tranquility. The service was superb except for that at the pool and the Pavilion.
Top Tip: Try this fish restaurant at the Marina ... do.ca peixe
You can walk down from the hotel (10mins) but locate the subway which takes you under the Avenida de India before you go or it will take you an hour!

Fabulous hotel. Friendly, helpful and polite staff who were happy to help in every way. Breakfast in superb garden everyday was very enjoyable. Within walking distance along seafront to many of top 10 locations. Also within walking distance of great restaurants
Top Tip: Great restaurants within walking distance: Enoteca de Belem, Oceans 5, Solar de Nunes

We had a wonderful holiday in Lisbon. The Pestana Palace Hotel was much more than we expected. The decor was amazing. The bedroom was large and very comfortable with a patio which was bathed in sunshine and private, looking onto a garden area. The staff were so accommodating and helpful. The breakfasts were superb and well presented with total care from the staff. The grounds were extremely well kept. The outdoor and indoor pools were large and clean. There was in-house music(piano) each evening. One had to dress for the a la carte dinner although one could obtain a less wide menu which was very adequate in the bar/lounge and be in informal attire .
We would thoroughly recommend this hotel which is upmarket but not overly pricey. We would book here again and will try out other Pestana Hotels in the future.
Top Tip: The slight downside was that most of the restaurants were a fair walk away downhill(and consequently a fair climb back up) but taxis are cheap and very accessible.

Excellent hotel and staff. The lovely buffet breakfasites served in the fancy dining room is amazing, makes you feel like a princess! The only negative was the lack of a tea or coffee machine in our room but we got tea in the piano bar for about £5 for 2 people and the atmosphere was lovely, felt like a high tea for no price at all.
Top Tip: There are a few nice restaurants and pubs about 5 mins walk away, situated at the marina, beside the massive bridge and across the river from the 110ft statue, you can't miss it!

The hotel provided a pleasant stay, not sure how it attained or retains its leading hotel of the world status as it falls a long way behind other 5 star hotels we have stayed at. Don't expect: iPod docking station, tea/coffee maker, complimentary water and fruit in room. Do expect: beautiful grounds, a nice indoor and outside pool, courteous and helpful staff, noise from adjoining rooms throughout the day and night. The buffet breakfast was good although not exceptional, thought for a hotel of this standard sparkling wine with breakfast would have been included. Free transportation by courtesy vehicle - only 7 seats per journey into town with no guarantee of return transportation.
Top Tip: There is a nice Italian restaurant on the river about 30 min walk from the hotel.
