A clean, comfortable and simple hotel, with friendly staff, decent breakfast and a nice bar. It's in the centre of the new part of Porto Moniz, with 6 or 7 restaurants within easy walking distance and a supermarket a couple of minutes away. Porto Moniz is decidedly quiet out of season, but that appeals to me and may also to others. The bus service is such that you need a car if you want to go anywhere, but the hotel has a small car park and there is some free street parking outside and nearby. Go for a room with a sea view.

The staff were very good, and the meal they prepared in the hotel for Christmas day evening was excellent. Some websites (not the hotels own) say there are up to 6 restaurants. The true position is that the hotel has none, although it does a very good breakfast in a breakfast dining room, but those on half board are given a daily voucher for one of 3 restaurants the hotel has arrangements with. The voucher gives access to a restricted tourist menu in each of the restaurants, the selection is adequate for a short stay although over our 14 day stay they became a little repetitive. I would certainly stay in this hotel again but next time just take the B&B option leaving me free to select any of the restaurants in Porto Moniz.

Very clean room, public spaces and lift. Good breakfast and were given a voucher for evening meal at one of the restaurants in the port because we were half board. The meal at the Orca restaurant was excellent as was the service.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Nice surprise to find that the prices in the roof bar were as good as any in town and in some cases better.
Basement pool was clean , modern and user friendly and would be a safer swim if the tides and winds were too high for the volcanic sea water pools.
Brilliant location over looking the sea and in the sun all evening. Would thoroughly recommend a stay in this hotel.
Top Tip: Excellent meals in Orca Restaurant.
