Located in the Puerto de Mogan, a fishermen area known as little Venice, this 4 star modern hotel is only few metres from the beach and from the colourful fishing quay and the marina, all surrounded by the beautiful and exuberant Mogan Valley. The Cordial Mogan Playa Hotel is a unique combination of a luxury vocational resort with an authentic Spanish atmosphere in a peaceful and beautiful surrounding. There isn't a feeling of being in a large resort - the original architecture which includes a chapel speaks for itself. This luxury hotel is mostly for couples and families that want to relax and enjoy peaceful holidays away from the crowd. The distance from the Gran Canaria International Airport is approximately 40 miles, or in other words 70 minutes.

An outstanding hotel on all counts. It is a modern, architecturally tasteful building complex with fine, clean, large pools, lovely tropical gardens with outsize palms and colourful plants, and impeccable standards of hygiene and noise insulation. There are actually 3 waterfalls built into the dining rooms and pool areas. Large blue bath towels are provided free for the pools. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable (mattress toppers for those who want softer ones), and good bathrooms. There are modern safes, extra blankets, heating and air conditioning, and free WiFi. The staff are all well trained, punctilious, courteous, and invariably helpful. There are always people to help; and there are managers to manage! The staff are good humoured and seem to genuinely like their job, and appreciate their visitors. Nearly everyone understands English; many also speak German. But if you speak Spanish, that's the best. They all appear to be local Canary Island people. The food in the buffets is splendid; abundant, well selected, varied and changing every night, with all tastes (incl. children and vegans) fully catered for. The cooks who did the preparation are on hand to carve and serve hot main dishes for you, and help the children. The roast and grilled meats, and duck, were outstanding, as were a wide variety of cooked vegetable dishes (aubergines, French beans, artichokes, Canary potatoes, asparagus, terrines and 'pisto Manchego'). It is all very impressive, and excellent service.
I noticed that the majority of guests were German, Dutch or Scandinavian, and that may explain the overall high quality. All the guests were equally polite and obliging, and everyone seemed to have a good time, from contented children and teenagers, to those who wanted to be active, or just enjoy the sun loungers. There is plenty of room for everyone, everywhere.
I think it is one of the nicest, most welcoming and comfortable hotels I have ever been to. I recommend it unreservedly.
“ Top Tip: The little local harbour is Puerto de Mogan, and well worth one afternoon's visit. It is photogenic, and packed with human activity. The 'Mirador' (balcony) overlooking the village is worth using late in the afternoon, to get a panoramic view of the valley, with the sun at your back. But you must walk up about 120 steps ....
