4 Star Hotel

Info

Description:

Located in the Puerto de Mogan, a fishermen area known as little Venice, this 4 star modern hotel is only few metres from the beach and from the colourful fishing quay and the marina, all surrounded by the beautiful and exuberant Mogan Valley. The Cordial Mogan Playa Hotel is a unique combination of a luxury vocational resort with an authentic Spanish atmosphere in a peaceful and beautiful surrounding. Nice hotel, although overpriced. Staff very friendly & helpful. Good choice & range of breakfasts.
Good location as short walk to beach, harbour & shops & restaurants.
Top Tip: Some excellent restaurants near the beach & around the harbour including Cafe de Mogan, El Capuchino & El Caldero.
Local buses are cheap & fairly frequent around the island.

Position of hotel and design of hotel was very well considered when it was built. Close to the still relatively unspoiled Puerto de Mogan yet discreet enough to feel away from it all. Amenities and cleanliness very good. On arrival we asked if there might be a room nearer to the restaurant and were kindly offered one straight away. I guess, due to the layout of the hotel some guests would be walking quite a while for pool or restaurant.
Food was plentiful and diverse, however, with so much to choose from, slightly intimidating. Staff in all areas were professional, courteous and multi-lingual.
Top Tip: The archeological walk directly from the hotel that eventually leads to an ancient ruined habitation and then into town. Excellent, unlimited access to area. Secondly, the fairly demanding, but safe walk up the other side of the Mogan ravine which offers wonderful views of the town, hotel and area, including Mount Teide over on Tenetife. Saw the swifts arrive too - summer arrived.

Puerto de Mogan is a lovely destination and the hotel matches it. Despite being very new the hotel is tasteful and feels comfortable.

The only feedback for improvement I left for the hotel about what could be better was the main courses for the evening meal. In the desire to offer maximum choice something is lost in quality.
Top Tip: Ask about Half Board Plus. For 6 euros a person house beer , wine and water is included with the evening meal. This is only for consumption whilst eating dinner but represents excellent value.

Food was very good in main restaurant and in Las Guayres (a la carte). In general the staff were pleasant, helpful and most had good English. Hotel was well maintained and very clean. The archeological park adjacent to hotel (and only accessible from it) was very interesting but required good shoes and a significant amount of climbing over uneven paths.
