Very disappointed that the hotel beach and beach bar was not yet open and was covered in rubbish and glass and unusable. We were told this was because the season started the following week and so everything would be open and much better.
The first room we were allocated when we arrived was terrible, no working lights in the bedrooms and sockets hanging off the wall and not clean, especially the toilet, which was covered in urine and had not been flushed. The doors to the balcony did not close properly and could not be locked. We asked to be moved which they did immediately and the room we were given was much better. There were few people staying at the hotel and so could not understand why they had given us such an apalling room to begin with. We found it strange that there was only one key which had to be given to the cleaning staff daily and so there was long periods when we could not access our room during the day without having to track down the key. The safe in our room did not work so they brought another one into the room and stood it on the top of the exisiting one, but it was unsecured and could be lifted off easily!
The food was often cold and it was not always easy to get a drink and the only food available was at mealtimes apart from leftovers from lunch left on a table for hours in the heat.
A large conference of Tunisian business men was held towards the end of our stay and they were all that mattered to staff and management. All entertainment was cancelled for this time apart from music playing in the bar, there was no seating for those on holiday, no food in the dining room after waiting in a lengthy queue, no tables and even no glasses at the bar! The waiting staff were apologetic but could do nothing to rectify the situation and no alternative was offered.
As a positive the Animation team and pool staff were great and very friendly and helpful.
The reception staff were not very helpful, I asked for them to make a call for me to check our transfer and they said they were too busy with the conference delegates. Fortunately the animation team offered to make the call for me. There was difficulty changing travellers cheques at the hotel and after changing one for us, they asked us to pay them the money back as the bank would not accept it from them. We agreed to do this but were not happy when they tried to get more back than they paid us!
We made the best of our stay but would not return to this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone else unless huge improvements are made.
This hotel has recently changed its name and so no reviews could be found before we travelled. If we had known the original name and read the reviews we would not have booked it and selected an alternative.
Top Tip: Don't bother taking travellers cheques as it is very difficult to get them changed, it is much easier to take cash or use cash machines.
The Marina is a nice place to visit with lots of restaurants and shops.

From start to finish the staff couldn't do enough for you. The Animation team were fantastic and tried to make sure everyone joined in. The food was plentiful and fresh.
Will definitely go back!
