Hisaronu (oludeniz), Dalaman, Turkey

4 Star Hotel

Info

Situated in the heart of Hisaronu resort centre, the Ocean Blue High Class Hotel is a brand new, modern and stylish hotel with a freeform pool that surrounds the rooms. The luxury and chic rooms at the Ocean Blue Hotel are all tastefully furnished to very high standards. The doors opened in May 2012 and the hotel aim is to give fantastic one to one service to our guests, to show real Turkish Hospitality and to be the first one on your list of holiday choices.

Location -
Ocean Blue is just beside the lively resort of Hisaronu, which is surrounded by the exotic flora and pine forests of the Babadag and Mendos mountains. We are located in a quiet and relaxing point, within walking distance to Hisaronu Center. Just 100 metres away is the town where you can find hundreds of shops, bars, restaurants and different activities. The nearest beach is Olu Deniz and the Blue Lagoon is just 5 minutes Dolmus (local minibus transportation) ride away.

Accommodation -
All Superior Rooms overlook the pine forests and the green valley and are larger than Standard Rooms. They have a double bed and an L-shaped settee. It is possible to set up an extra bed for one person on a sofa bed in some of these Superior Rooms.

All Swim-Up Rooms are on the ground floor and over-look the pool. You have the fantastic opportunity to dive straight into the pool from your room balconies and it is a different option you do not usually see around Turkey.

Relaxation -
Our Spa center, whilst abiding by historical meaning and the ottoman historical figures, has been built in a modern style, with a Turkish Bath and Sauna for your comfort. We have a hot steam sauna section that all our guests may use completely free. The other area is a Turkish Bath (Hammam) where a hot marble slab sits at the middle of the room. The Turkish Bath package includes a scrub with a loofa glove and the bubble bath. This package takes about half an hour. Then your choice of massage can be added, applied by our Professional Masseurs to compliment the needs of the body. The shortest massage is about half an hour in Ocean World Spa and Turkish Bath Center.

On arrival we had a pool view as paid for...however a double bed - which was a problem for 2 single females. We could not change it until the following morning. That room was a terrace room and although the room was very much smaller the terrace was great. The new room was street level a view of the street - in particular the dustbins of the fairground...I think they would call this a garden view as if you look down there are some plants...it was not comfortable to sit of the balcony opposite the fairground, bins and Migros supermarket. That said with the doors all closed there was no noise....but then I can sit indoors at home. The room in that room was very much bigger...it is well appointed and quite stylish....creeping in is lack of maintanance - paper coming off the walls - shower scaling up (they did mend it ). The pool and sunbeds are an issue...there are enough to go round if the hotel is not full....they are comfy...but unless you are up at the crack of dawn you will not get a sunbed that sits in the sun all day. Added to that the fact that people from other hotels come in you will be lucky to get a sunbed in the sun....we never. They would be best employed taking away the chairs and tables to the left of the pool (which is where the sun is) and putting in a double row of beds....would be cramped but better than sitting in the shadows. The menu at the bar - if you want Turkish food your out of luck - the menu consists of burgers, pizza's, chips, gravy and chips, cheesy chips, a couple of salads. I asked for the Turkish menu and it came as a shcok when I was told but I was English. Give them there dues they went and got me a plate of mezze - they said they would find what they had...that was great - so why not have Turkish food in Turkey on the menu? The Turkish bath was very unorganised...it is also the coldest one I have ever been in. The massage was great and great friendly people....but it is expensive for £20 for half an hour I thought. On the last day we were not allowed to keep the room until we left as they were full to bursting...there was also no courtsey room. You could shower in the turkish bath changing room....that had a celar glass shower door with no actual door to changing room - the shower needs de scaling and they need to fix the lights...it was very dark. There is also no A/c so good luck if the hotel is full again...there were 11 of us trying to shower. Breakfast was ok, getting a seat was sometimes hard and you have to queue then sit with strangers. But the staff were all friendly. I was very annoyed when the maid took my duty free bags - empited them, threw away what she thought was rubbish as well as the boxes and manuals for speakers and then put my travel documents (that were in the bag) in my wardrobe......so be careful. The hotel was in an ideal location....we did not use the bus to the beach as we never found out where that beach was. Overall the rooms were comfortable - a/c super - so order the quilts up. Cleaning was good....until the day of the flowers towels on bed when they threw away my belongings. If you mention anything about the room they will come and sort it....but if you are using the hotel as your sole base....you will be ok if you don't like the sun or Turkish food.
Top Tip: Try the beach to the lagoon...but not the lagoon itslef as it is far to cramped. get the mini bus (3TL) to sugar beach or Seahorse (and others such as paradise, billy's and sun city) Seahorse we found to be the best (10TL each) but they do not serve you at beds....entry to lagoon is easy as not many rocks. Sugar beach is more chilled and you don't have to leave your sunbed for food etc (6TL each) but rocky into water but very different due to slight tidal activity. We took at boat trip from the shop near to Azda's...the 12 island trip (which means about 4 stops) great boat 4 sunbeds each...no music....and back under full sail. For Turkish food try Suzanes - near to time out bar - you wont see the name very well you will just see Turkish Ottoman traditional food....excellent. Also had a good meal at Whiteman and for a quick snack try McKebab...the most non fatty kebabs ever.
