Hotel ideally placed opposite the beach and in a few minutes walking distance to town, yet far enough away not to be kept awake by all the night life of the main town centre (though you can hear the in house entertainment but its not on too late)! Rooms-basic but clean and comfortable, ideal for those just wanting somewhere as a base for the weekend/stay. Plenty of tea/coffee facitilies in the room. Yes it could probably do with a lick of paint and ceiling tiles replacing, but for the price, the linen and towels were clean, and the room was clean which to be fair is more important! Lift is VERY narrow, we only just got the buggy in, we had to meet it on the second floor as didn't fit in with it! However when we got to the second floor we still had a few steps to carry the buggy up to get to our room, so probably not very helpful if a wheelchair user, least we could carry the buggy and the baby. We didn't venture to other floors so can't say if others are all on one level, though saying that you do have about 12 steps to climb to get to the main entrance-there was no ramp access that we found-or were informed about.
Breakfast was included and was nice, plenty of it, plenty of cereal/grapefruit/oranges and full english, juices and tea and coffee to choose from. We were there on one of the busiest weekends, and it did take the staff a while to turn around tables and serve at the same time, but they were very pleasant and accommodating, and some of the cups could have done with a scrub as still tea stained, but were replaced for us. Front of house staff weren't quite as helpful...we asked re where we could park nearby as the car park was full and were told 'i don't know...wherever you can find a parking space...' There are about 6 parking spots at the hotel but unless your there early, you've no chance of getting parked (which we anticipated), so its a case of looking around the back streets for on street parking, most are pay and display til 5pm, or finding one of the big pay and display car parks around such as the station car park.. but when you've 2 young kids, a buggy and bags been told to drive around til you find somewhere wasn't particularly helpful... another guest pointed us in the direction of some local car parks, that had 24 hour parking facilities, but it was a shame the front of house staff couldn't provide basic information such as local parking facilities. We also requested a travel cot on our booking, i even phoned up 3 days before to ensure one would be available (otherwise i'd have taken my own), yet they denied all knowledge of this on arrival, and asked to see my paperwork to prove i requested one.. fortunately i took a copy of the email they sent saying they would make one available for us-it was in the room a few hours later when we returned from our walk into town. Bar was clean and cheap, evening entertainment was good, though we didn't see a lot of this with heading out to see the lights etc. We would return to the hotel as for the price, it was ideally located, clean, basic and had the facilities needed to cater for a family of 4!
